Ever-shrinking world

It is a small world, after all.

This morning, Gaye Symington levied the charge at Jim Douglas that his highway project planning was so bad he was at risk of losing federal transportation money.

Douglas' people say it isn't so, the money has no expiration date.

So I sought to find out whether there is one or not and turned to the Federal Highway Administration's Vermont office, where I left a message for Larry Dwyer. He happens to be the husband of Carolyn Dwyer, who is Rep. Peter Welch's campaign manager, and sits about 13 inches from Symington's campaign office.

Larry Dwyer passed my message along to the FHA's spokesman, who called me back. That is Ian Grossman, who was once Jim Douglas' campaign manager and a spokesman for the state Agency of Transportation, before moving to the federal agency.

It's like you're playing pinball and you set off in a direction you bump into someone who's connected to someone else.

Grossman says there's no expiration date. Theoretically, Congress could create one.

I can't believe I donated to this campaign. I was hoping my dollars - which I don't have a lot of to spare! - would go to paying competent campaign staffers. And it is their job to research this kind of stuff so the candidate is not embarrassed!

Gaye has been very, very poorly served by her team.

Gaye is pitiful. The shame of it is that what you see from her is a representation of the pitiful D's in VT.

You see it in every posting JW makes. They live on made up facts hoping if they say it loudly and oppressively enough people will believe its true and when they lose... they play the victim card.

The D's have been positioning this upcoming loss even before Gaye was in the race. How many times have the D's blamed Pollina for ensuring Douglas' victory? Perhaps the time would be better spent developing a compelling platform that the residents of the State could believe and support.

And just for fun, where are the rest of the Party leaders? If they had any concern or desire to win why aren't they out there pushing her run. Schumlin has certainly left her out to dry.

The VT D's represent everything wrong with the Party today. They expect things to be given to them, not earned, and when things don't go their way they blame the ones that worked hard to be successful. You know, what was it Barack said? Something about its good to redistribute the wealth.

Don’t worry about Dad shooting anyone. Firearms are very high on the long list of things he is terrified of.

When we were kids my brother Rod got a B-B gun.

Dad was all upset and bawling that Rod was going to kill people. Finally he called the cops on his own son he was so scared. Thing is he told the cops Rod had a gun not a B-B gun.

The cops come racing up believing Dad. Picture this, half a dozen cops demanding to know where the gun is. Rod was ten and I was eight so we were terrified. Dad is screaming obscenities about how the guy that sold his son a weapon and made him into a murderer being thrown into prison so he can be gang raped every night.

Finally Mom got home. She listens for about five seconds, tells them all to shut up then yells at the cops "IT'S A F-ING B-B GUN!"

She gets it out of our room and shows it to the cops. They apologized to Rod and I then took dad off to talk to him. Now he is the one crying in terror of the cops. IDIOT!

So don't worry about him going hunting for “Gops” or anyone else. He's so afraid of guns he faint if he had to touch one. He's also afraid of heights so you'd never see him in a helicopter ether. Mom's high heels are as far off the ground as he dares to get.

Gran's right she should have drowned him when she had the chance.

Actually, Gaye is right on this one....

The state has Approx $140 million that only needs the 10-20% match to move them.

These are inportant infratstructure projects that our Congressional delegation were able to secure the dollars for.

The problem is that Gov Douglas, and Neale Lunderville want to use the money as they see fit - not necessarily to fund the project appropriated to.

Bt delaying, the Governor is driving the costs higher to teh tune of about 10% per year.

This means the state will have to find more money and local governments will have to raise prop taxes to pay for these important infrastructure needs.

What the Governor should be doing is finding a way to bond for the $25 million or so that is needed to get these projects moving - which by the way, will help the private sector and put people to work!

Actually, Gaye is wrong just as Douglas is wrong.

This was not a concern to Gaye in April/May when she rushed the legislature to close, and instead focused on running a losing gubernatorial campaign.

In May Gaye was left silent, so in other words she is just as responsible as the Douglass. Anything she attacks Douglass for is her fault.

Vermonters want something different, that is why Pollina is gaining support everyday.

Every time the Dems passed something the majority of Vermonters support, doogie vetoed and, thanks to the gop-slime majority in the House who doesn't' give a damn about Vermont or their constituents, the House fell a vote or two short in the House to override his idiotic, unproductive and unnecessary vetoes.

Doogie screwed us with entergy and the decom fund and campaign finance reform and he would have screwed us and left the taxpayers on the hook for his incompetence on this, too, while the lunatic-fringe likes of you blamed Symington for the gop-slime majority carin' more about doogie and the gop-slime society than their constituents and Vermont taxpayers.

You all have forgotten the issue -- Jim Douglas is mismanaging the dollars available for infrastructure needs and Vermonters safety on the roads.

Jim Douglas' policy is actually costing the state more to complete projects and will continue to drive up local property taxes as he seeks: 1) to CUT State Highway Aid to Local Communities, 2) increase the cost of local share as projects delay year to year.

Jim Douglas is not a good fiscal manager - he just portrays that appearance.

Maybe an example will help. Politics isn't the same as your welfare entitlement. You actually have to work to build consensus among differing opinions. It isn't just given to you.

I know statesmanship and diplomacy are foreign topics to you and the Daily Kos crowd but at one time there really were true politicians among the D's that could work with those of differing points of view. Simply put, Jim Douglas is mismanaging Vermont's transportation dollars available for improving infrastructure, improving Vermonters safety on the roads, saving money for taxpayers, and putting people to work!

Ban the ignorant anonymous trash posters who repeatedly post the names, addresses and phones of other people while offering google map directions to their homes and threatening them and their families and pretending to post as someone else.

You've got their IP addresses and identities, I don't. If you're gonna ban anybody, ban that ignorant anonymous trash.

Moreover, I'll go ya one better.
