Shumlin: next month

Word is that Vermonters can expect Senate President Pro Tempore Peter Shumlin to announce his plans to run for governor in November.

Shumlin, of Putney, has been saying he's 99.99 percent in the race.

His announcement will be sometime before the Nov. 19 forum that the Vermont League of Conservation Voters has planned, so he can be expected to be on the dais with a field of three other, possibly four if former Sen. Matt Dunne of Hartland enters the race by then, of Democratic candidates for governor in 2010.

Every Democratic candidate for Governor should be asked to put together a very simple version of the coming year's budget to show us how they will deal with Vermont's plummeting revenues.

This is good news for the Republicans. The Dems will bloody each other and one will come limping out of the primary, with only two months before the general election.

RSBDM stand for "Racine Shumlin Bartlett Dunne Markowitz."

Or maybe RSBDM stands for "Republicans Should Be Dancing Madly."

Brave Shumlin. He waits until after Douglas says he won't seek re-election to declare his candidacy. At least Racine, Markowitz, and Bartlett had the b____ to declare their candidacy when they were expecting to take on Douglas.

Shumlin will win the primary, no question. He's hell of a lot more charismatic and can connect with people better than the others. I bet Bartlett drops out of the race too.
