Leahy disses Lieberman

Sen. Patrick Leahy said on VPR's Vermont Edition today that Sen. Joe Lieberman should not be rewarded with a major chairmanship in the next Senate.

The former Democrat-turned-independent is chairman of the Senate's Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee. He backed Republican John McCain for president, but Leahy suggested he went farther in that support than he should have.

The blog Daily Kos is all over Leahy's comments, which are:

"Every senator will have to vote the way he or she believes they should,"
Leahy said, in a reference to the upcoming vote on Lieberman's fate in the Dem
caucus next week. "I'm one who does not feel that somebody should be rewarded
with a major chairmanship after doing what he did."

"I felt some of the attacks that he was involved in against Senator
Obama...went way beyond the pale," Leahy continued. I thought they were not
fair, I thought they were not legitimate, I thought they perpetuated some of
these horrible myths that were being run about Senator Obama."

"I would feel that had I done something similar," Leahy concluded,
"that I would not be chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee in the next
Congress."

Ooooooh Snap!

LC from 'The Hills' isn't the only character who knows how to get back when she is wronged!

JL is toast.

Leahy is right.

Most Americans disagree with Lieberman's positions.

Elections have consequences.

Sounds to me that leahy is only jealous because he wasnt asked to be a canidate for the position. I find this funny!!!!!

Go Pat!
Leiberman didn't just support McCain, which I think most democrats would understand even if they did not agree with it, he denigrated Obama and now expects to be rewarded for his actions. He shouldn't have to be stripped of the chairmanship, he should have enough dignity to relinquish it. He choose his horse and he lost.
Cowboy up Joe...maybe when the republicans are back in control they will give it back to you.

A man of principle - Joe Lieberman -attacked by a sleeze Senator who put Americans in danger by leaking confidential info that later HAD to be declassified - I guess this is what the dims have come to. Amazing, considering Leahy was kicked off his chairmanship of Senate Foreign Relations because of it! By his OWN party! And of course, the moral midget "Bernie" has to chime in even though he still refuses to call himself a dimocrat! When you see Senators like this, not to mention scum like Al Franken , who decent people wouldn't let in their house, possibly being elected a Senator, then I wonder how los can the dims sink. FDR, HST, and JFK must be turning over in their graves!

osama bin leahy, the scurge of vermont, now there's an example of reproduction gone to the parasites of humanity.

"Barack Obama was voting to cut off funding for our troops on the ground"

This was the only reference to Obama in Joe's speech to the Republican Convention.

He did say some things in an interview with Newsmax which some might find disturbing

"Sen. Barack Obama’s “naïve” world view could embolden America’s enemies during one of the most dangerous periods for America since the 1930s"

“I believe he’s naïve to think that people like [Mahmoud] Ahmadinejad and Tehran will somehow become America’s friends by talking to them — a warm embrace and a cup of tea. It’s not going to work that way,”

"Barack Obama is clearly ‘not ready’ yet to be commander in chief, and the country’s adversaries, including Iran “will not fear him” if he were to become president." (by the way, he was wrong, the Iranians DO fear Obama)

It’s important for the political process to question Obama’s ties to former Weather Underground bomber Bill Ayers: “I think these are very fair questions and it’s now up to Senator Obama to answer them.”

Personally, I don't like Joe's politics but his offensive remarks, in so far as I have been able to discover them, do not go beyond what Hillary said during the primaries.

The fuzz-buzz is that she might be named Secretary of State.

"by the way, he was wrong, the Iranians DO fear Obama"

Really?

Proof please.

"Leahy's jealous..." Candidate for what position? Leahy already has a more prestigious chairmanship in the Senate Judiciary committee.

Well, if you go t Press TV or any other media representations of the remarks of the Ayatollah's and Iranian politicians you would read that they have no expectation that Obama is going to change policy in regards to Iran. During the campaign he was as incomprehending and threatening as both Hillary and McCain.

So , in this sense, they do "fear" Obama, in so far as people who mind their own business, stand up for what they believe are their legitimate rights under international law, try to follow time honored codes of conduct in both their personal and diplomatic affairs "fear" liars, cheats, intimidating bullies and idiots lacking the guts to say anything without being "anonymous" or otherwise immerse themselves in secrecy and deceit the only defense for which they can provide is overwhelming force.

Sadly, Leahy has become as much of a fool as Bernie. Bernie resigns himself to babbling incoherent rants about the "rich" in empty Senate chambers, while Pat now occupies his tax-payer time grubbing for bit parts in Batman movies while the country tries to deal with various problems. (actually maybe that's a blessing - keeps him occupied with something other than blabbing classified info)

In other words, bubbakis has got bupkis.

Thanks for clearin' that up, little fella.

Sounds to me like you're still dumb, you're still scum, ya can't spell "wasn't" or "candidate" and ya got bupkis.

Thanks for clearin' that up, little fella.

Gee, I hate to keep confusin' ya with the facts, little fella, but Leahy's Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee. He's already managed to help rid the world of the illegitimate, incompetent trash that is Gonzo and he was smart enough not to vote for Meshuggah Mukasey who, like gonzo, is laboring under the lunatic-fringe notion that the AG is not the Lawyer for the United States of America, but the President.

Unfortunately, that's more than you can say for Schumer and Feinstein.

It's nice to know that Leahy is there to prevent shrub from putting Barney and the Bush Twins on the Supreme Court after he pardons himself, cheney, his Administration and every last registered gop in the world on his way outta DC.

As for Lieberman. He's an Independent. The Dems are doin' him the favor. They don't owe him a damned thing.

If he doesn't like it, he's free to caucus with the gops and see what kind of deal they give him.

If you don't like Leahy, find somebody to beat him when he's up for election, little fella.

Always a pleasure.

This must be some of that intellectual discussion I'm supposedly preventing.

The word is spelled scourge, scum bag.

You're welcome.

Always a pleasure.
