The aftermath of Mass.

Did Vermonters feel the effects of the political earthquake in Massachusetts yesterday?

Here are a couple of reactions _ with people in both parties trying to use the results to raise money:

From Vermont Democratic Party Chairwoman Judy Bevans:

Yesterday, the Democratic Party was dealt a difficult blow. For the
first time in over thirty years, Massachusetts elected a Republican Senator,
weakening the Democratic majority in the U.S. Senate. ...

We can’t allow this to become a trend in 2010!

This defeat serves as a wakeup call to all Democrats. If we want real
change, we need to work twice as hard to achieve it.

That’s why the Vermont Democratic Party has started early, building a
statewide “14 County Campaign” to elect a Democratic governor and elect
Democrats up and down the ballot. From re-electing Senator Leahy and
Congressman Welch to protecting our majorities in the State Legislature, we
can’t take a single seat for granted.

Please donate to the Vermont Democratic Party’s “14 County
Campaign” today to elect a Democratic governor and elect Democrats
statewide.

From Republican Lt. Gov. Brian Dubie, who is running for governor:

Yesterday night's victory in neighboring Massachusetts showed once again
that Americans are tired of politics as usual. Vermonters are looking for a
campaign run on ideas promoting job-creation, and economic
development.

I will be a jobs-Governor, one who prioritizes the
need for business growth in Vermont by lowering taxes and controlling runaway
government spending. Priority number one is to make sure that Vermont is the
best state in New England to do business.

This result is very good for the candidate for Vermont governor who is most like Brown.

I wonder if Dubie already owns a pick-up?

I'm confused. Why hasn't Dubie been a jobs-Lt. Governor?

What the heck is he waiting for????

I don't know if Mr. Dubie drives a pick-up truck but I do and my wife doesn't own any $500 sneakers. Oblahblah just doesn't relate to the average Joe and that is what will "drive" him from office and power.

Mr Brown's wife owns three condos in Boston, a home in Wrentham, and a time share in Aruba and you worry about $500 sneakers?

Brown's pickup is window dressing to get people like you to vote for him.

It worked....just like Obama's "Change You Can Believe In" window dressing worked.

The point is that Oblahblah can't relate to the avaerage person. I work two jobs just to get by these days. The White House vegetable garden is nothing more than window dressing.

Maybe out of this whole mess we can get rid of Leahy, the man who sucks up to any Democrat even if he/she opposes everything Leahy says he stands for.

LEAHY is part of the Washington problem. W=we will never move forward until egotistical men like him are replaced with people who CARE.

So it is no surprise that a Republican beat a Dem in Mass. Even though I am left of center I will not vote for war hawk Leahy the Obama apologist.

I agree that Obama doesn't relate to the average person but do you seriously think Republicans do after our experience with the last several Republican presidents?

UNLIKE THE LAST 2 DEMOCRATIC PRESIDENTS, THE LAST 2 REPUBLICAN PRESIDENTS HAD A REAL JOB IN THEIR LIFETIME. OBAMA AND CLINTON SUCKED FROM THE PUBLICS BLOOD ALL OF THEIR LIFE AFTER HIGH SCHOOL. AND VT. HAS LEAHY AND SANDERS NEED I SAY MORE. FORMER VERMONTER

Lets just try some change.

Of course the very first thing the VT Dems do is use the election results in Mass. to fear-monger and raise money.

Typical, predictable, and sad.

Former Vermonter:

GWB's father and others have supported him in all of his business failures with their inherited money. Look at reality for once.

2:51 pm Glad to know that you are a former Vermonter. Trust you are much happier in your new state. Given that, why not just leave the rest of us ol' dumb Vermonters alone?
