Closing

In closing, Symington said there are real differences among the candidates. Douglas, she said, stands in the way, sees environment as obstacle.

Pollina urged the crowd to be courageous and vote for real change.

Douglas said that indeed there are differences among the candidates. They want government to do more, he wants government to be at people's sides, not on their backs.

Comments:
Symington and Pollina are embarassing. Douglas cleaned their collectivized clocks.

Douglas is embarassing (sic). Symington and Pollina cleaned his clock.

All three of them were embarrassing...none answered the questions clearly, all stuck to pre-determined talking points. It's the process that won today - Flatbread and the sponsors put together a process that is worthy of a better quality of debate.

Pollina kicked proverbal butts! Symington was at her usual stuttering ways, trying to dodge most of the questions. Douglas avoided all questions, he looked like a damn fool. Pollina answered all questions with a grace that is worthy of the Governor of Vermont

Nice job, TH

The voters have turned Pollina down 4 times already. The fifth time won't be any different.

IF anyone was paying attention the only candidate that was clear and effective was Pollina. Douglas was his typical monotone rhetoric, and Symington was typically bumbling and lethargic. Anyone who claims that dougless or gaye won is obviuosly delusional. Stop playing the party games and well get real answers and real change.

Not voting for someone because they didn't win in the past is the most flawed logic I have heard.

I'm not surprised Pollina held his own. He's a smart guy.

This is pretty simple, really. Pollina will lose. Again. It is only a matter of by how much. This time. Only two of the candidates are qualified to be Governor. Only one should be: Gaye Symington.

Green Mountain Boy

Pollina was born to lose.

No, Vermonters are born to lose, because we keep electing people like Douglas and ineffective legislators like Gaye Symington. I guess we'll never learn.

Pollina is just loud, Symington is lost and Douglas needs some new ideas. It would be almost impossible to justify voting for Gaye Symington

What experience does Pollina have to qualify him to be governor?

The same amount of experience that Obama has for being President. Pollina with VT Milk Co and Obama with Chicago Neighborhood Development.

Obama has better experience than GW Bush had in 2000.

I didn't think Obama had been elected Governor, or ran a business- all he did was partner with Resco & Jerry Wright to organize a neighborhood- which is now an eyesore.
If your only experience is two+ years in the Senate this does not qualify anyone for President.
Obama=Jimmy Carter= disaster

Dubbya didn't run a business as much a he ran it into the ground. Thank goodness that daddy was there to give him more money.

McCain = Bush = Disaster

Pollina is not qualified to run for Governor - he just has loud supporters.

"Pollina is not qualified to run for Governor - he just has loud supporters."

The jimi douglas experience has some loud, lunatic-fringe supporters, too. Unfortunately for him, he also a six-year record of incompetence and nonachievment telling you his supporters are ignorant, anonymous gop slime who buy their prescription meds in bulk on the net.

"Al-Maliki's Announcement: A Big Deal
19 Jul 2008 02:23 pm"

"This could be one of those unexpected events that forever changes the way the world perceives an issue. Iraq's Prime Minister agrees with Obama, and there's no wiggle room or fudge factor. This puts John McCain in an extremely precarious spot: what's left to argue? to argue against Maliki would be to predicate that Iraqi sovereignty at this point means nothing. Obviously, our national interests aren't equivalent to Iraq's, but... Malik isn't listening to the generals on the ground...but the "hasn't been to Iraq" line doesn't work here.

So how will the McCain campaign respond?

(Via e-mail, a prominent Republican strategist who occasionally provides advice to the McCain campaign said, simply, "We're f@cked...."

That pretty much tells ya all ya need to know about the state of gop-scum nation in general and the clueless mcsame "no country for clueless old men" tour in particular on every conceivable level.

The "surge" is only successful if the mission is to conquer and occupy Iraq, but, according to mcsame, that's never been our mission. Evidently, there's a handful of gop-scum nameless-nitwits left in this Country who still think Saddam was behind 9/11,the wmd was right where Rummy said they were and we were greeted as liberators just like Cheney said we'd be.

Unfortunately, that is not supported by the facts. Then again, neither are they.
The only thing in its last throes is gop-scum support for Bush/Cheney and more of the same.

Of course, McSame can always claim Maliki's has never been to Iraq and isn't familiar with the situation there, along with his latest lunatic-fringe to blame Obama for high gas prices, the state of the economy and the War of 1812. Clearly, he's not gonna let the facts stand in his way.

Gop scum never does.

Always a pleasure.
Dismissed.

And as it was subsequently reported, the statement was mis-translated and Maliki did not endorsed Obama or his plan.

Further it was reported that the Iraqi government understands it can use the election process to its best advantage and will by playing each candidate against the other.

Atlantic.com is obvioulsy a shoddy organization more than willing to 'drink the Obama kool-aid' and unwilling to do what good journalists do...check their facts.

It was, eh? Where? When? Some gop-scum propaganda outlet according like the drudge report?

Ignorant anonymous trash with bupkis who can't spell translated talkin' about translation.

Like the gop-scum fella said, Gops are f&cked. Then again, they always were.

Maliki's own translator translated it. It was checked twice. It's what Maliki said. He wants us out by the end of 2010. We went in on 3/19/03

"Further it was reported that the Iraqi government understands it can use the election process to its best advantage and will by playing each candidate against the other."

Where? When? By whom? That's what I thought.

Gop scum accusations that the Iraqi Government is playing politics about US Occupation of Iraq.

"Atlantic.com is obvioulsy a shoddy organization more than willing to 'drink the Obama kool-aid' and unwilling to do what good journalists do...check their facts."

Really? Proof? That's what I thought.

Ignorant anonymous trash with bupkis talking about facts. Sure thing, deduce bag. Sure thing.

Always a pleasure.
Dismissed.

you little sweet talker you. I am sure they checke the translation with you also.

Anyone who ACTUALLY WATCHED the debates would vote for Pollina. Symington is a nice person and is probably a smart lady, but she is the worst public speaker ever. Every sentence from Symingtons mouth is a stuttering unfocused mess. I'm lost for word to describe how terrible she is at public speaking. How the hell was she 'speaker of the house' ?!?!? Pollina will get my vote. He has answers to the questions that are fresh, accurate and well articulated. He is not a dirty 'politician' like Douglas who just dodges questions.
