The weird unchanging world

Took a quick trip to the Windy City of Chicago over the weekend. It was lovely really and not all that windy.

But look at all the things I missed:

- Westmore decided not to ban nudists from the nude beach.

- Harry Chen decided not to run for lt. gov.

- The AG's office decided the hemp bill could indeed become law without the governor's signature.

- Steve McQueen is back to being Winooski police chief.

It's a weird world in which I went away and when I came back things were the same as before but people had met and made decisions not to change things.

- Terri Hallenbeck

Comments:
The only change Vermont needs is a new Governor - It's time to get rid of the partisan, say no, Governor Douglas.

During his 6 year tenure, Vermont has the highest unemployment in 14 years!

Yeah, and he takes credit for legislative accomplishments after he cut them in his budget.

Can we credit the IBM lay offs to Douglas or can the legislature take any credit?

Vermont is a train wreck under Douglas's supposed leadership. Now IBM is laying off 200 employees, and Douglas is laying off a bunch of state employees. The unemployment rate is going to be the highest EVER if we continue down this path. The irony here is that the very people that will need state programs to help them through in this tough economy aren't going to be able to find them, or will be put on some long waiting list. Douglas's paid mouthpieces will claim this is all because of the national economy, but I bet you won't hear them saying that it was Bush who ran the economy into the freaking ground and it was Douglas who sold Bush to Vermonters twice (just like he will McCain). The day Douglas starts admitting his support for Bush was wrong and then apologizes for the royal mess Bush has created is the day Douglas might begin to have some credibility.

What a complete failure Jim Douglas has turned out to be. Let's pray Vermonters wake the heck up and kick this bozo into the private sector (for the first time in his adult life).

The Vermont Democratic party is in need of some better candidates.

So much nekwit nonsense, so little time

"Can we credit the IBM lay offs to Douglas or can the legislature take any credit?"

The IBM spokesman said:

"We needed to respond to current market conditions. We felt we needed to re-balance our skills workforce. We took the action to cut costs, reduce costs, and improve efficiency. It's an action we're taking to respond to the market conditions for our business," said IBM spokesman Jeff Couture.

Just what and where in that statement does your factually-challenged ignorant ass feel is the fault to the Vermont Legislature, nekwit?

This is not the Legislatures fault. It is not Doogie's fault.

This is a product of brain-dead bush league economic policies and implementations.

Then again, only ignorant-trash with bupkis and no knowledge of history or economics would expect anything else from the party that gave the US the Depression, unprecedented National Debt, numerous recessions and both Deficits.

Again, this is not the fault of the Legislature, VPIRG, CLF or even Doogie the Dimmer.

Then again, unlike the Legislature and most Vermonters, Doogie supports the schmuck and the policies responsible for putting this fix which still leaves you ignorant trash with bupkis.

Always a pleasure.
Dismissed.

"The Vermont Democratic party is in need of some better candidates."

No, Vermont is in need of a competent Governor.

Jim Douglas Hypocracy Example:

From statement to IBM employees:

"To those at IBM who have lost jobs, and other Vermonters who have experienced the same challenge, we will continue to help you with all the tools we have available."

The bulk of all other Vermonters who have experienced (or about to experience) the same challenge being the four ACCD workers recently laid off and the rest of the state employee workforce waiting for the Douglas chopping machine to roll through any day now.

Douglas is a self-proclaimed Christian man, right? "Do unto others, as you would have others do unto you" and all that.

Practice what you preach Jimmy!

Just as long as his boy Friday Jason Gibbs got his 8% raise. That's all Doesless cares about.

Let's see - IBM cuts 180 jobs and Jim Douglas falls all over his tongue to say we are here to help.

But when Jim Douglas cuts 400 + jobs serving Vermonters, it's called unsustainable.

Anybody see the hypocrisy!

Jim = Hypocrisy

Jim = joblessness.

Jim = Governor.

Gaye = Gridlock.

Go Douglas!

Gaye equals stuck in reverse. Property tax relief.."what's that?" The best thing about her leaving the legislature and running for Governor is that the main impediment to meaningful tax relief will no longer be at the podium...so says Dem Rep Ann Manwaring.

Douglas has cut, so far, four jobs. And that was the result of a $500,000 cut the Legislature made to the Agency of Commerce budget.

The other 400 jobs will be vacancy savings. Nobody gets a pink slip.

But here's an idea: Maybe, just maybe, if we allowed some economic growth and housing construction in Vermont, there wouldn't be so many Vermonters who would need "serving."

Or we can continue to play the Shumlin/Symington game, where we coo, "All is well with the business climate in Vermont" while simultaneously:

Jacking up electric rates by going after Vermont Yankee with dubious taxes and regulatory legislation;

Insulting one of the highest ranking Vermont employees of IBM by publicly calling him a liar when he objects; and

Defining "leadership" and "political courage" as the willingness to raise taxes on working Vermonters and the risk-taking business owners who provide them jobs.

Government jobs don't have a multiplier effect on the economy; they're paid for by taxing private sector economic activity. Ask Doug Hoffer to explain it to you.

Remember Symington's farce of a public relations stunt called "Why Vermont Doesn't Work" Just think of all the business closings and relocations when she and Shumlin come to mind during this campaign season.

Ah, so the Dem Legislature made the Gop Gov cut spending, eh?

"The other 400 jobs will be vacancy savings. Nobody gets a pink slip."

Yeah, vacancy savings sounds so much friendlier than downsizing.

Merry fookin' Christmas, Clueless. Ya got 20 minutes. Get your stuff and your butt off the premises or we'll call security.

Happy Hanukkah! Ya best make that farcockteh lamp oil last 'cause there ain't gonna be any more of it, schmuck. Leave the rolodex. Grab the lox and bagels.

"But here's an idea: Maybe, just maybe, if we allowed some economic

Maybe not.

Again with the meshuggah maybe malarkey

And just where and when does IBM spokesman Jeff Couture blame the layoffs on Vermont's allegedly anti-business climate in the following, little fella?

The IBM spokesman said:

"We needed to respond to current market conditions. We felt we needed to re-balance our skills workforce. We took the action to cut costs, reduce costs, and improve efficiency. It's an action we're taking to respond to the market conditions for our business," said IBM spokesman Jeff Couture.

That's what I thought.

Meshuggah maybes from ignorant trash with bupkis ain't evidence, schmuck.

You're dumb, you're scum and ya got bupkis.

Always a pleasure.

Ah, so the mere mention of the jimi douglas experience's six-year record of incompetence and ineptitude will cause Vermont businesses to shutter their windows and doors and take flight to - oh, say the flooded corn fields of Iowa because current conditions there are so much more welcoming and conducive to the needs of business, eh?

So, the jimi douglas experience offers what in the alternative, little fella? Is everyone just supposed to go to their happy place and imagine a Vermont with no environmental standards or silly calls for long-range planning for sensible, sustainable growth and billboards - ten's of thousands of billboards as far as the eye can see.

A veritable New Jersey with longer winters.

Tourists could pose for pictures by the dumpster behind Walmart because the view is so different than the dumpster behind the Walmart in Akron. That's the ticket! That'll pack 'em in. Bus tours and senior citizens everywhere. The ski areas and the restaurants, hotels and motels will be booked solid year-round.

Sure thing, schmuck.

Once again, you're dumb, you're scum and ya got bupkis. What's more, you're a dinosaur. Make like bubbles and go find your ignorant, anonymous ass a tar pit and fall in it.
Disappear.

IndependentVermonter has hit the nail right on the head.

Congrats. Well said.

Coop said..."And just where and when does IBM spokesman Jeff Couture blame the layoffs on Vermont's allegedly anti-business climate in the following, little fella?"

And that is exactly what you and the rest of your ilk don't get. IBM has nothing to gain by attacking the State and its unfriendly posture towards business at this point. That is infantile behavior.

IBM operates on a more professional level. It has made its case. It has asked for the State to work with them and had their requests rejected and their representatives insulted. At this point IBM has made a business decision to reduce its costs here, not in Fishkill and to redirect it's millions of investment in New York, not Vermont.

The time to talk has passed. They understand VT's position and now they are managing their business. They have made their decisions and are implementing their plan. IBM Essex Junction is dying a death of a thousand cuts.

In the immortal words of Reverend Wright, Vermont's anti-business chickens have come home to roost.

Captain America

"The other 400 jobs will be vacancy savings. Nobody gets a pink slip."

Sucker!

The governor seems to have convinced you that the 400 job cuts will be vacany savings - well, it ain't happening that way - so in order to meet the objective, heads will roll.

Yet Jim Douglas continues to "need" 14 communications/media relations people to pat him on the back - at a cost of almost $1 million.

Coop said..."And just where and when does IBM spokesman Jeff Couture blame the layoffs on Vermont's allegedly anti-business climate in the following, little fella?"

Ah, so your lack of evidence is your proof of guilt, eh, auntie amerika?

Nice try.

"..And that is exactly what you and the rest of your ilk don't get..."

Nah, I get the fact that your ignorant anonymous ass remains caseless and clueless and your inability to substantiate your psychotic slop continues just fine, crazy lady.

"IBM has nothing..."

That makes two of ya.

No, they don't have anything supporting your delusional dreck, either, little factually-challenged fella. You two have a lot in common.

"..That is infantile behavior."

Yeah, but you've never let that stop ya or slow ya down in the past, crazy lady. It would be unreasonable to expect your ignorant anonymous ass and the delusional dreck you're dolin' out now and will undoubtedly dole out in the future to deviate from the clueless-cretin course you've taken to date, auntie a.

"IBM operates on a more professional level. It has made its case...."

No, they've laid off 180 people claiming the following:

"We needed to respond to current market conditions. We felt we needed to re-balance our skills workforce. We took the action to cut costs, reduce costs, and improve efficiency. It's an action we're taking to respond to the market conditions for our business," said IBM spokesman Jeff Couture.

Moreover, they did it without claiming the lay-offs were a product of Vermont's allegedly "anti-business attitude" or that ACT-250 was responsible for the current global market conditions since ACT-250 is not in effect in Europe, Australia or the Pacific Rim which, once again, leaves your ignorant anonymous ass caseless and clueless with no evidence to support your dimwitted delusional dreck.

Evidently, they didn't want to compound laying-off 180 people by claiming some utterly-psychotic, factually-challenged, delusional dreck they can't substantiate as their rationale for the layoffs when they'd immediately be exposed as lying swine and admit that they have no evidence to support such a claim and come off lookin' like ignorant trash with bupkis who'd just laid-off 180 people and lied about the reason why.

Clearly, that would be as unprofessional as it is clueless.

"It has asked for the State to work with them and had their requests rejected and their representatives insulted. At this point IBM has made a business decision to reduce its costs here, not in Fishkill and to redirect it's millions of investment in New York, not Vermont."

And your ignorant anonymous ass has still yet to establish that one action is responsible for the other any more than shrub has been able to establish that Saddam had WMD and reconstituted his nuke program and he'd been found the evidence to prove it.

So, like shrub, your case has detonated in your face in the form of a mushroom cloud, little clueless-cretin fella.

"The time to talk has passed..."

Yeah, it's time to turn your cards over, little factually-challenged fella.

Gee, bupkis. I'm shocked.

"In the immortal words of Reverend Wright, Vermont's anti-business
chickens have come home to roost."

Really? Too bad they didn't airlift in any evidence in support of your ignorant anonymous ass's latest load of lunatic-fringe nameless-nitwit nonsense.

In other words, you're dumb, you're scum, ya got bupkis and your continuing absence of evidence is proof of guilt.

Nice try, nekwit. No sale.

Always a pleasure.

"IndependentVermonter has hit the nail right on the head."

Actually, auntie amerika, he used his clueless cement-filled cabeza to hit the nail shattering his cabeza and bending the nail in the process.

So, once again, the list of things you and your coalition of the clueless compatriots can't do and can't prove continues to grow exponentially.

Congrats.

Always a pleasure.

I think IndependentVermonter has the facts about right and any clueless compatriots are on Coop's side of the aisle.
If the Legislature continues to burn the hand that feeds them, (private sector business) sooner or later that business will leave, or close.

NEK

"I think ..."

Well, nekkie boy, given the continuing absence of any and all evidence in support of your delusional dreck, if you were a serious person advocating a legitimate point of view supported by the facts, had a flippin' case or a clue and your next thought wouldn't be your first, you'd have lost all credibility long before your ignorant, ill-informed ass had typed the k or gotten the sound out of your mouth, but as self-deprecating humor goes, that's a good one. Not bad at all.

Always a pleasure.
Dismissed.

Symington for Governor!!!

You must be joking.

Symington would be much better than Douglas.

Douglas will not do anything unless Mikey Smith, Jason or Neale tells him its ok.

Any decision has to take into account the next election!

Douglas is such a wimp!

"The survey found public approval of the president’s job performance at a new low for a Times/Bloomberg poll: 23%, compared with 73% disapproval.

Heckuva job, Bushie."

Who's the incompetent swine who chaired the '04 Vermont reelection campaign for this bonehead again?

Heckuva job, jimi.

Always a pleasure.
Dismissed.

Heckuva job Congress- your approval ratings at 19%- that's 81% DISAPPROVAL
who's the incompetent swine who elected Leahy, Welch & Sanders?

"Heckuva job Congress- your approval ratings at 19%- that's 81%
DISAPPROVAL..."

Count me amongst 'em, nekkie boy. There's too much gop-scum who care more about covering bush's illegitimate, incompetent ass and far too little about the Country and the Constitution they took an oath to defend.

How many Dems are in the WH, nekwit?

"...who's the incompetent swine who elected Leahy, Welch & Sanders?"

That would be the vast majority of the voters in the State of Vermont, nekkie boy.

Nice try.
Dismissed.
