Birthday bash raises $115,000 for Dubie

We don't get much information about the fundraising by the gubernatorial candidates and won't see their reports until summer.

Still, Lt. Gov. Brian Dubie, Republican candidate, reports today that his birthday bash Tuesday garnered $115,000 for his campaign.

In an email, his campaign staff report his $51 per head party attracted 430 people.

Dubie commented, "I am truly humbled by last night’s strong show of support for my campaign for governor. When I decided to have a birthday fundraiser I set the goal to raise $30,000 and sell 150 $51 tickets. To raise over $115,000 in one night and have 430 people buy tickets is beyond my expectations."

Just so folks know:

430 people x $51 = $21,930 not $115,000.

To raise $115,000 Dubie would need 2,255 people to come to his birthday party.

So, Mr. Dubie, where did this money come from? And by that I mean what state because it sure isn't VT.

Perhaps because most of us have worked much harder, real physical dawn to dusk labor, and get treated like dirt by pampered flatlanders who got their fortune by grift, graft or inheritance.

A lot of native Vermonters live under the false assumption that only they have a work ethic. It is pretty insulting to those of us flatlanders who have had to claw just as hard for what we have and partly moved to Vermont because we thought Vermonters might appreciate that. Guess not. Pretty elitist attitudes for a state that has more people than most depending on government help.

Guess what? In my experience most of the flatlanders you describe donate to the Vermont Democratic Party, not the Republican Party.

Don't blame Dubie or Vt. Republicans for the elitist flatlander control of Vermont.
