Dubie's jobs tour

Lt. Gov. Brian Dubie is hitting the road for a jobs tour. It starts Wednesday in Rutland and he promises five more, yet-to-be-named stops around Vermont.

"He said his aim is to listen, and identify new ways for state government to help Vermont businesses keep existing jobs and create new jobs," according to a release from his office.

Legislators are also planning a employer-listening stint at the Statehouse later this month. Have we mentioned that Dubie and several legislators are running for governor?

Dubie's Wednesday schedule in Rutland:

10:00 – 10:55 GE Rutland

11:15 – 12:00 OMYA

12:20 – 1:20 Round Table with Local Employers

1:15 – 2:00 Downtown Walkaround

2:30 – 3:15 H. Hirschmann LTD

So dubie can spend most of a day walking around Rutland talking to selcted audiences when he should be in the State House working, but refuses to attend any of the public forums related to the up-coming election. What is wrong with this story?

Brian,

You should be doing this on teh weekend or on a monday...

I can just hear teh screaming from teh GOP if this was a Democrat from the legislature.

This is hardly a necessary activity of the Lt. Governor, whose primary responsibility is to preside over the Senate and break ties. I'm glad he's getting out and hearing from the people...at least from the people's employers. But at a time when budgets are being slashed, people are going without social services, & staff are laid off or taking pay cuts, please tell me his campaign and not my taxes is paying for his travel expenses and state salary during this very thinly veiled campaign swing.

Well,

how about all those "events" Shumlin is at - aren't you worried about your tax dollars there?

Does Dubie get a lunch allowance like our governor? Was his lunch money increased this month too?

Shap and Shumlin got their lunch money increased.

No, actually the legislature took a pay cut.
