Lonely at the top

Two years ago, Howard Dean strolled Church Street in Burlington, campaigning with Democratic gubernatorial candidate Scudder Parker.

This year, Dean sent an op-ed piece to Vermont newspapers declaring his support for gubernatorial candiate Gaye Symington. Not quite the same as the personal touch, but Dean is busy with national matters.

He's not the only one. There's a plethora of people too busy or too uninterested or to baggage-laden to campaign for any of the gubernatorial candidates.

Anybody seen Sen. Patrick Leahy out and about campaigning with anybody running for anything in Vermont?

How about Bernie Sanders?

They are too busy thinking about Barack Obama and the 2009 U.S. Senate.

Whether your name is Gaye Symington, Anthony Pollina or Jim Douglas, you aren't really getting a lot of personal help from your higher-up friends.

Symington put herself on the line for the party, but for the most party, the bigwigs have not reciprocated, at least not in public. Holding a rally for the party faithful in Barre doesn't count - that's preaching to the converted.

She apparently was honking-and-waving this morning and will again this evening with U.S. Rep. Peter Welch. With the time change, they'll be lucky if evening commuters can see them.

But where is the mob-scene rally with Welch and Leahy and Madeleine Kunin and every big- name Democrat you could muster who would catch voters' attention?

Pollina touts his work with Sanders, but doesn't have his endorsement.

Douglas, meanwhile, can't afford to invite anyone into Vermont to campaign for him who might otherwise. Dick Cheney? George Bush? He'd be begging them to stay away.

It's lonely at the top of the state's ticket.

Comments:
Vermont -- Proudly the only state in the union to not host GW Bush as a guest.

GW Bush - proudly a President that could care less about a bunch of far-left ninnies!

The only thing worse than George Bush campaigning for Douglas in Vermont would be Peter Shumlin campaigning for Symington in Essex Junction.

Jim Douglas has now shown he is as corrupt as his friends in DC and is willing to use taxpayer monies to fund his campaign - Douglas needs to go!

I wish GWB or Dick Cheney would have returned the favor to Jim Douglas and come to VT to campaign for their good friend!

Untrue....it could have been Coopy.

Douglas doesn't need any politicos to come up and campaign for him. He has his personal press [campaign] corps already embedded in state gov't, and his political appointees to hold captive meetings with employees where they sing the boss's praises.

Douglas and the Rove crew manipulate state gov't to their advantage every day.

"Untrue....it could have been Coopy."

In other words, your ignorant anonymous ass has got bupkis.

Bupkis so nice, ya had to post it twice.

Thanks for clearin' that up, little nameless-nitwit fella.

Well, you and bubbakis can always go out and beat Obama by launching a last minute write-in campaign for Tom Tancredo and/or Duncan Hunter.

That should ensure massive scum-vote turn out, little fella.
With a little luck, you might even crack triple figures.

Always a pleasure.

Jim Douglas and his minions (Casey, Lunderville and Gibbs) are using state taxpayer dollars to try and infiltrate all of state gov't with his right wing ideology!

Yeah, that would work real well with a state overrun with left-wing liberal pansy trustafarians from all the surrounding fruit-cake states!

How long will it take for the state to realize that Gaye Symington was just the sacrificial lamb candidate for the Dems. She is going to get the lowest vote total of any Democrat in 40 plus years running for governor.

The Democracts are happy just to squelch a real Progressive from achieving the Governorship. So the Blue Dog Democracts and Dean can continue to thank themselves for their support in keeping Jim Douglass in power.

Has anyone seen the Vermont environmental movement during this election? Yeah, me neither. Guess they are content with Douglas's energy plan charade. Why they chose to sit out this election is beyond me.

Then it's high time for ya to pull up stakes, point your wagon South and head for redder pastures, bubbakis.

Bon voyage, little fella.

It's been a pleasure.

My friends at Century 21 tell me Bubba has been looking at the property right next to yours Coopy. They tell me you live under the nicest rock on the street.

No, but this post shows me your ignorant anonymous ass has got bupkis, little nameless-nitwit fella.

Again.

Moreover, why are you accusing bubbakis of looking to live under a rock, little fella?

Don't forget to vote today, schmuck.

Always a pleasure.

Cook and Bubba already live in the same house.

Bitch boy Cooper has been playing this stupid game since he was posting at the Argus as foolonthehill.

The Free Press lacks the brains to ban the fat drunk from their board. Sad that the moron has been spewing his hateful nonsense here for so long.

Ah well we can always hope the freakshow ends up with stomach cancer from his lifetime of boozing.

"..Ah well we can always hope the freakshow ends up with stomach cancer from his lifetime of boozing."

Always with the sweet talk, little nameless-nitwit fella. Always with the sweet talk.

Yeah, ya can always hope and pray, little fraudulent fella. Outside of that, looks like hard times for ignorant slime.

Gee, that's a shame, schmuck.

Always a pleasure.

Gee Coop you really are off your game.

Why didn't you post as Bubba claiming you widdil feewin's wuz hurt?

Too drunk to think of it Kooper?

OOOOO.... you are so cool. Can I hang with you and your pals?

No.

"Stealing my lines again coop? Too lazy to come up with your own material?"

Ignorant anonymous trash with lines, let alone lines worth stealin'. As if.

That's a good one, little factually-challenged fella.

You're dumb, you're scum and ya got bupkis, schmuck.

Give my best to your mom, mutt.

Disappear.

Well you have one new word at least Coop.

At this rate you should have a new catch phrase by 2010.

Go suck down another bottle and try to forget how pathetic you are.

Anthony Pollina needs to get a job and move on - stop blaming the Democrats for your problems.

Coop said: "Give my best to your mom, mutt."

I did Coop. She asked me to give her best to Shorty. Shorty?

jw seems to be fading fast. I'd expect him to be dancing around with joy thinking Obama was going to be giving him even more handouts than he gets now.

How long do you suppose it will take before he figures out he was lied to by B.O.?

C'mon....lied? He would never!

It was pretty interesting to watch him start the backpedaling process of lowering expectations in his acceptance speech on Election night.

Like Bill Clinton, who promised a middle-income tax cut in 1992 then gave us the biggest tax hike in history, Obama and his droids will "suddenly" discover that the economy is "worse than they had expected" so you might have to "wait a while" for your cut! Unless you are one of the 40% that pay no taxes, then the check will be in the mail!

And change will come....

Unfortunately it will be coming with the same old tired players...John Kerry, Bill Richardson, Al Gore, Chuck Hagel.

That sure is the way to bring a breath of fresh air into the Beltway.

Anyhow, where do I go know to have Barack start making my mortgage payment?

bubba...

Ya mean the Bill Clinton that left shrub with no deficit, the largest federal budget surplus in history, peace, prosperity, New Orleans, the DOW at 10587 and a couple of tall buildings dominating the lower Manhattan skyline, bubble boy?.

Moreover, Reagan's Tax Increase in 1982 was the largest income tax hike in 1982. Then there's the fact that he doubled the 9.5 to 11.8 by '88.'

In other words, like the Country, under reagan, Middle Class families with kids got screwed.

Now, ya got any more incredibly stupid, factually-challenged, delusional dreck to dole out, dimwit, or have ya gotten it all outta your system for the time being?

"Unless you are one of the 40% that pay no taxes, then the check will be in the mail!"

And just which 40 percent of the working population pay no taxes, bubbakis?

As always, feel free to cough up any and all evidence in support of that psychotic slop, little fella.

Gee, I'm shocked.

Always a pleasure.

Obama's first "breath of fresh air" - Rahm Emanuel, political hack that was on the board at Freddy Mac when the s*** hit the fan and left the country in the state it is now. He ignored all warnings about the impending disaster. Can hardly wait for the rest - see where crazy Howie also wants a cabinet post. Who next - Larry Flynt?

"Which 40% of the population pays no taxes?" asks the Village Idiot. Well, off the top of my head, I'd say the LOWEST wage earners plus the likes of you, jw - i.e., wards of the state.

DOH!

bubba...

In other words, you're still dumb, you're still scum and bubbakis has still got bupkis.

I'm shocked.

The only thing you've provided proof of over the course of the past year, bubbakis, is that ya can't provide any proof of anything and ya don't know your ignorant anonymous ass from your elbow.

I never doubted it and I never bet against it, bubbakis.

You're always ignorant anonymous trash money in the bank and that's always a pleasure.

BO will take good care of JW Cooper and his welfare comrades so why should they be nervous, he has never seen an income tax that affets him or his low/no income comrades in service to the welfare establishment. Earn no income, have no income, pay no income tax.....that is JWs chant

WELFARE ASSHOLE.. Mo must be real proud if her bread winner, his paycheck comes the 1st of every month

So, what you're saying is that you're still dumb, you're still scum and ya still got bupkis.

Gee, thanks for clearin' that up, little fella.

You'll just have to stick to fantasizing about my wife and kids and pretending that memorizing our names and address will let you escape from your mama's basement and live here, little fella.

It wont, of course, but if that helps you.

It doesn't "affet" me adversely.

Clearly, that's all ya got.

Always a pleasure.
