Sanders joins with Dems

Look who's going to Denver for the Democratic National Convention later this month: Bernie Sanders.

That's right, Bernie Sanders, the independent, going to the insider's party.

He told Gannett News Service reporter Erin Kelly today that he'll be be trying to drum up independent voters' support for Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama.

"I think it is especially important for the millions and millions of independents, who are not particularly enthused about either party, to understand why Obama is by far the superior candidate in this campaign," Sanders said.

Sanders said he expects to rally with independents in Denver and travel later this fall throughout the country to reach out to independent voters on behalf of the Obama campaign. He also will do some campaign events in Vermont.

"I'm doing this because from the deepest part of my soul I believe the future of the country is at stake in this election," Sanders said.

Here's the trick with independent voters, though. They're independent. They will scurry to one side or the other before this is done, but is Bernie Sanders going to be able to herd those not already inclined toward Obama?

- Terri Hallenbeck

Comments:
Oh yeah - independents from around the country are going to rally behind "independent" Bernie because he's... independent?

Maybe when pigs fly.

The pigs have been flying for the last 8 years under the Bush/Cheney/Rove empire.

Q: Is Bernie Sanders going to be able to herd them to Obama?

A: No. Bernie is less in touch with middle America's values than Obama. He will appeal to the West Coast wackos, the Daily Kos crowd and Coopy but BO already has them wrapped up already.

Bernie's help will be valuable in bringing in people on the Nader/Green/Progressive part of the political spectrum. It isn't a huge group ... but it has been a critical group in the past.

People who are trashing Bernie on this post will trash Bernie regardless of what he does. They made their mind up about him years ago.

In other words, you're still dumb, you're still scum and your ignorant anonymous ass has still got bupkis.

Thanks for clearin' that up, little fella.

Always a pleasure.

McCain can only hope that Bernie goes to Denver and takes Coop with him- they are sure to rally support!

I find it amusing that Bernie holds himself out as an independent. That would imply he is aligned with neither Party and picks and chooses the best of both platforms.

Bernie is a self-proclaimed Democratic Socialist...i.e. a far-left liberal elitist clearly aligned with the Dems. It is as absurd as Joe Lieberman saying he is an Independent (which by the way Bernie points to as hypocritical).

You are an interesting guy (or maybe a pitiful guy), Coopy. At nearly 1AM, you are glued to your computer on the BFP board hurling insults. How much bitterness do you have penned up inside? I would have thought that after 7 months, you would have fully vented.

Get help.

Bernie a hypocrite - you don't say.

Since Bernie is "independent" and now Anthony Pollina says he is "independent" does that mean that Pollina thinks he is the next Bernie?

Actually, Bernie has never accepted money from the Democratic Party.

On the other hand, Lieberman has taken the Dems for millions.

Millions? Please explain your point.

The Dems voted Lieberman out in a primary. Joe decided he still wanted to be in Congress and ran as an independent. His district voted him back in. Why is that a negative for him? It seems like the Dems misread the voters real sentiment and threw away good money when they worked against J.L.

Well, nekkie boy, given the fact that the doogie/dubie debacle's platform is to pray Pollina stays in the race and they can fool enough Vermonters into giving them another two years to exercise their incompetence and continue to run Vermont into the ground, we'll just add that to the exponentially-expanding pile of things the likes of doogie, clueless mcsame and your ignorant, ill-informed ass can only hope.

Always a pleasure.

Well, little factually-challenged/fundamentally-dishonest/clockwatchin' fella, that would be quite a trick in view of the fact that you'd long since established the fact that your ignorant, anonymous ass lacked both the capacity or the inclination to think at all long before I showed up.

Then again, if nothing else, you have consistently demonstrated the ability to read a time stamp at the bottom of a post. I'll give ya that much, little fella. Sadly, that and a consistent ability to demonstrate that you frequently can't spell what you can't substantiate is clearly the extent of your repertoire when your ignorant anonymous ass is confined to the facts.

Of course, those facts were never in dispute.

Adult Basic Education, little fella. Get yourself a case and a clue, little fella.

Always a pleasure.

Really? Is it your clueless-cretin contention that Lieberman, as an incumbent, Democratic Senator from Connecticut, didn't take money from both the CT and US Democratic Party to run for reelection, only to fail in his bid by losing in the Dem Primary to Ned Lamont, little factually-challenged/nameless-nitwit fella?

Furthermore, is it also your clueless-cretin contention that he didn't keep that money along with Democratic Funds he'd raised previously to not only run as an independent, but to run in opposition to the duly, democratically-elected candidate of the Democratic Party while gop-slime on both the state and national level refused to endorse the duly and democratically-elected gop-slime candidate who'd won the right to run as the official gop-slime candidate for Senator from CT on the '06 ballot when they'd never failed to endorse or finance any duly-elected gop-slime candidate previously, stopping just short of officially endorsing Lieberman's tainted-trash candidacy for reelection in the process, little factually-challenged/caseless/clueless/lyin'-ass, gop-slime apologist fella?

If you have any evidence of Bernie taking money from the Dems to run as a Dem, losing a primary election, keeping the money and using it to run against the candidate who defeated him in the primary while both the national and state gop-slime party refused to endorse or support the duly-elected gop-slime candidate who'd won the right to represent the Vermont gop-slime party on the ballot as the gop-slime party candidate for Senator from the State of Vermont in November or pulling anything even remotely similar to Lieberman's actions at any time in any bid for elective office, feel free to present it.

That's what I thought.

In other words, you're still dumb, you're still scum and your ignorant anonymous ass has still got bupkis.

Thanks for clearin' that up, little fella.

Like I've told you, time after time, you've made that sale, little fella. I'm convinced. You can stop closin'. You've made the sale and you can't talk your way out of it.

Get back to me if conditions change, ya stumble across a case and/or a clue or ya add some actual fact and evidence to your lunatic-fringe line.

Given your extensive track record, little fella, unless I hear otherwise, I'll just continue to operate under that assumption.

Always a pleasure.

It's an objective fact that Bernie has never accepted money from the Democratic Party.

He runs on his own. He stands on his own. He wins on his own.

This makes him independent.

Lieberman has used Democratic Party funds to make his name in Connecticut and in national politics. In this way, he isn't independent. And in this way, he differs from Bernie Sanders.

Don't confuse the whacks with the facts. If gop-slime-swillin' whacks could be swayed by the facts, they wouldn't be gop-slime-swillin' whacks in the first place and Vermont and this Country wouldn't be in this fix in the first place.

Was it wrong for Liebermann to take Dem funds when he was running as a Dem? No.

Was it wrong for him to seek re-election after he lost the Dem primary? No.

Haven't others changed party affiliations in the past...like Jeffords? Yes.

You have no point.

Your only issue with JL is that he is a middle of the roader not a left wing wingnut.

I never said it was wrong. I never said that I have a problem with Lieberman.

I said that Bernie is independent because he's never taken money from the Dems. He gets elected on his own.

It's a simple fact.

Lieberman has taken money from the Dems. That is a simple fact.

Slow down and read the posts before you make assumptions.

"Was it wrong for Liebermann to take Dem funds when he was running as a Dem? No."

So far, so good, little fella. Let's see if ya can keep it up.

Shoot, I won't even hold the fact that ya misspelled Lieberman in the midst of praising the Juddenratt schmuck, little fella. Clearly, he'd have no qualms about cashin' your nameless neo-nazi nitwit check and pocketing the proceeds.

"Was it wrong for him to seek re-election after he lost the Dem primary? No."

Damn. And you'd managed to get one in a row, too, little fella.

No, it was wrong of Lieberman to keep Dem money and take gop-slime support to run against a duly-elected Dem Candidate who'd beaten him fairly and squarely in a Dem Primary Election, little factually-challenged fella.

I don't recall Jeffords losing to any gop-slime opponents in gop-slime primaries as a candidate for Congress or Senate to say nothing of keeping gop-slime funds to run against a gop-slime opponent who'd beaten him fairly and squarely in a gop-slime primary while the Dems turned their back on their duly-elected candidate and offered him their unofficial support in the process, little factually-challenged fella/nameless-nitwit fella.

As always, if your ignorant anonymous ass has evidence to the contrary, feel free to present it.

That's what I thought.

Haven't others changed party affiliations in the past...like Jeffords? Yes."

Nice try, little factually-challenged/fundamentally-dishonest/nameless-nitwit fella.

Did Jeffords take gop-slime funds to run as a gop, lose to a gop-slime challenger in a Primary, keep the gop-slime money and use it to continue to run against the gop-slime challenger who'd beaten him in the primary while the Dems refused to support the candidate who'd won the right to represent the Vermont Democratic Party while unofficially endorsing Jeffords and throwing their full support behind him in the process?

That's what I thought.

You have no case. You have no clue. You remain, dumb, you remain scum and you continue to cough up bupkis in the increasingly unlikely event you can manage to spell what you can't substantiate.

Disappear.

Always a pleasure.

Clearly, it's not simple enough for your nameless-nitwit nation target audience.

Don't confuse the whacks with the facts. If they had the capacity to grasp or the inclination to be swayed by the facts, they wouldn't be ignorant trash with bupkis in the first place.

Slow down and read the posts before you make assumptions that you're dealing with rational, intelligent human beings with opposable thumbs and the ability to walk erect. Clearly, you're not.

Time for alittle vacation!

No, Bernie won't take party money but he'll take their donor lists and spam them within an inch of their lives until they give him money. What a shame that he sold out. He seems like a little pussy cat now, being petted by Leahy. Pitiful.

Bernie does use all the Dems donor lists and the expense of other candidates - wow aren't those Democrats great!

Bernie has not used Democratic lists ... that's just another GOP lie ... from the GOP smear machine.

They can't beat him ... so they just fling mud.

"Bernie has not used Democratic lists "

andhow do you know this?

"Bernie does use all the Dems donor lists and the expense of other candidates - wow aren't those Democrats great!"

And your ignorant anonymous ass knows this how, little factually-challenged/fundamentally-dishonest/nameless-nitwit fella?

That's what I thought.

Again, little fella. Your ignorant anonymous ass made the allegation. It's up to you to substantiate it.

Always a pleasure.

Again, evidence? That's what I thought.

In other words, you're still dumb, you're still scum and your ignorant anonymous ass has still got bupkis.

Thanks for clearin' that up. Get back to me if the situation changes.

It'd be great to see your ignorant anonymous ass actually substantiate some of the specious slop ya consistently spew and frequently misspell for a change, little fella.

Take now, for example.

That's what I thought.

Always a pleasure.

likewise coopy....feel free to prove your spew.

we are still waiting for your solution to the energy crisis.

i assume you are now for off-shore drilling since BO has flipped.

"likewise coopy....feel free to prove your spew."

In other words, your ignorant anonymous ass wants me to compile a list of all the evidence you haven't been able to produce in support of all the bogus claims and psychotic slop you haven't been able to substantiate.

Sure thing, schmuck. Just as soon as your ignorant anonymous ass compiles a list of everyone in the World who isn't listed in the Newport Area phone book.

Nice try, little nameless-nitwit fella.

Given your invisible ink written record of unachievement to date, we hold your unending bounty of bupkis to be self-evident - that all anonymous evidence is created equally nonexistent.

"we are still waiting for your solution to the energy crisis."

Really? Again, just who is this "we" your ignorant anonymous ass continues to presume to speak for, little losin' track of reality and fadin' into fantasy fast fella?

Does your alleged army of anonymous allies include both your invisible infantry of insane allies or do ya merely claim to speak for the other half of your ignorant anonymous ass.

Moreover, how would I know since you clearly continue to suffer from your chronic inability to discern fact from fantasy, little fella?

That's what I thought.

"i assume you are now for off-shore drilling since BO has flipped."

Is that right. Well, dimwitted, ill-informed assumptions you can never seem to substantiate have gotten your ignorant anonymous ass this far, little fella, why quit while you're losin'.

I admire your stick-to-it-iveness, sport.

You're dim, dumb and delusional, but you're diligent about it. I'll give ya that much.

Always a pleasure.
