Tele- transport

New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson did there what state Sen. Vince Illuzzi suggests should be done here. Richardson directed his administration to look into allowing state workers to telecommute to save gas. Illuzzi has proposed a four-day work week for state employees here along with increased use of telecommuting.

"Rising gas prices are hitting New Mexicans hard and as the largestemployer in the state, I am directing state government to alleviate someof the costs associated with soaring fuel prices," Richardson said. "

According to the executive order signed by Richardson, State Personnel Director Sandi Perez will report back to the governor with policy guidelines for the New Mexico State Telework and Alternative Work Schedule Program by July 15.

No question, telecommuting is an enticing idea. I've done it a couple of days here and there and I probably get more done. There are issues in any place of employment with the concept. To wit:

- Does it increase the burden on the poor schleps who schlep their way to the office and have to answer all the calls?

- Some workers are more industrious than others. Unless your job is to something really specific like creating 442 widgets a day, can your employer be sure you're working all day?

- Technology is wonderful but also poses security risks. Can the employer be sure your computer is safe?

- Would we all eventually regret breaking down the wall between home and work? There's something to be said for walking out of the office for the night.

- Terri Hallenbeck

Comments:
Telecommuting should be done wherever possible. Employers can't be sure you've got your nose to the grindstone if you're in the office any more than they can at home. Your production level tells them that no matter where you are.

Besides, if you get an idea for a project at 3AM, you can deal with it immediately without having to trouble someone to wake up, get up, get in the car and come down to unlock the office.

What's more, ya can do it in your sweats if ya feel like it.

So, given those facts, where's the downside?

Glad to hear somebody is coming up with innovative ideas rather than just cutting public services.

Illuzzi has gotten more done as a state senator than Douglas has accomplished in 6 years as Governor.

"..Illuzzi has gotten more done as a state senator than Douglas has accomplished in 6 years as Governor."

Well, no disrespect to Illuzzi, but apart from vetoing legislation supported by the majority of Vermonters, turning around and proposing the very legislation you had previously vetoed while pretending the previously-vetoed, currently-proposed legislation was your idea all along, it'd be kinda hard not to.

Dostis introduced a bill in the last session to explore telecommuting, but it went nowhere. Hindsight is 20/20 I guess.

I read that VSEA wrote a telecommuting policy too, but Douglas did nothing with it. Maybe his GOP mate Mr. Illuzzi can get him to listen.

"I read that VSEA wrote a telecommuting policy too, but Douglas did nothing with it..."

Well, nobody, nowhere excels at makin' nothin' outta somethin' like our Doogie.

"..Maybe his GOP mate Mr. Illuzzi can get him to listen."

Well, Vince could do that but it would take him nine months to dumb it down enough to explain it to him so when's he gonna campaign?

You got some 'splainin' to do, Vinnie.

You will not ever get a union to accept change - even if it is for the good. Just look at history.

You will always get a union to accept change - even if it is not so the good. Just look at history

I guess weekends, the 8-hour work day, health care benefits, pension benefits, safety protections, and all the rest aren't the kind of change the braindead poster above had in mind. He or she probably wants child labor, unlimited hours with no compensation, 7-day work weeks and much more.

Whoever wrote the above: you are truly, in the immortal words of Coop, a "schmuck."

The educational system and the workforce in the United States is stuck in neutral.

Actually, with the high price of gas and diesel, the trade winds may soon be drifting back to the U.S manufacturing base. Corporations are now finding it more expensive to ship "cheap" goods from China, India, etc. back to the U.S. so it may soon become cheaper to produce the goods right here in the U.S. Maybe this will stimulate the "stuck in neutral" workforce you lament.

Then again, they may not.

"Corporations are now finding it more expensive to ship "cheap" goods from China, India, etc. back to the U.S. so it may soon become cheaper to produce the goods right here in the U.S. Maybe this will stimulate the "stuck in neutral" workforce you lament."

Then again, maybe not.

Get your ignorant anonymous ass a case and a clue or stuff a sock in it and tell your story walkin'.

We've seen the gop-scum act. To date, it has given us: the Depression, numerous recessions, the Reagan/Bush Deficit, crushing National Debt, The Bush Deficit, two more Bush Recessions, the War in Iraq, upwards of 50K US Troops killed or maimed in Iraq for nothing, Building 18, lies about and the exploitation the Death of Pat Tillman, six years of jimi douglas experience incompetence as they veto legislation only to turn around and propose the very legislation they vetoed and pretend it was their idea in the first place and watch a couple of incompetent and thoroughly corrupt oil men claiming that the just under 30 bucks per barrel oil was trading at on the day shrub was installed upon the Throne was too high and proceeded to take it to 135 bucks per barrel while ignoring warnings of terrorist attacks using Commercial Aircraft, refused to cut their record vacations short to deal with it, fell asleep at the switch, allowed the 9/11 attacks, the Katrina/Rita response FEMA fiascoes, while obstructing justice long enough to steal another election or two before Scooter was convicted of four outta five felony counts tied to the outing of Valerie Plame and just plain lying their incompetent asses off to the American People as they ran the Country and the State of Vermont into the ground.

What's more, unlike the factually-challenged/fundamentally-dishonest coalition of the clueless claims made by ignorant, ill-informed, nameless-nitwits with bupkis, invariably unable to substantiate their delusional dreck, there ain't no possibly, seemingly, perhaps, possibly, just might, may or maybe about it.

Always a pleasure.
Dismissed.

Coop - I see your only alternative is to move to a friendlier country- Iran, North Korea, Mozambique, Sudan, Nigeria would be suggestions- you obviously do not like it here and most everyone is far beneath your intellect.
You know ALL the problems but not once have you come up with a solution.

NEK...

Coop - I see your only alternative ..."

In other words, nekkie boy, you're still dumb, you're still scum and your ignorant, ill-informed ass has still got bupkis.

Thanks for clearin' that up.

Always a pleasure.
Dismissed.

nek,
You are always bitching about Vermont -- so your only alternative is to move to a more friendly state. Alaska or Texas would be my suggestions.
You know ALL the problems but not once have you come up with a solution.

I thought the guy takling about the trade winds shifting back to the U.S was making a point about good things might happen for working folks. That Coop guy tore him apart.

Gee, ignorant trash with bupkis thinks ignorant trash with bupkis "takling" about the trade winds made some good points.

What are the odds.

Nice try.
Dismissed.

NEK is tight Coop. Iran, Nigeria and North Korea would all love to have you.

Go post on blog there and see how tolerant they can be.

nek,
You are always bitching about Vermont -- so your only alternative is to move to a more friendly state. Alaska or Texas would be my suggestions.
You know ALL the problems but not once have you come up with a solution.
I was born and raised in Vermont- were you??
Texas and Alaska are both great places to live - I have visited both.
As for not offering solutions to current problems, you haven't been paying attention. I have offered many - it's the Coop responses who NEVER offer solutions.

"I guess weekends, the 8-hour work day, health care benefits, pension benefits, safety protections, and all the rest aren't the kind of change the braindead poster above had in mind."

Yeah, that's what I said. I said unions will change even if its not so good. I think that is saying a good thing abut unions. They can compromise on issues.

Lighten up pal. You are a little too close to stepping into the JWCOOP10 zone.

Good luck getting unions to compromise on anything!

"I was born and raised in Vermont- were you??"

Yep.

"As for not offering solutions to current problems, you haven't been paying attention. I have offered many - it's the Coop responses who NEVER offer solutions."

Wow. You're comparing yourself to JWCoop, the world's biggest fool. The fact that you read what he writes shows that you are a fool too.

NEK is one of the few rational posters on this blog. His .postings are thought out and supported

Just skip over the ones from jwcoop

"NEK is one of the few rational posters on this blog. His .postings are thought out and supported"

Nope. Mostly he just repeats the same old right wing lies.

"NEK is "tight" Coop."

Nekkie boy's tight, eh? Is that some kinda ignorant nameless-nitwit with bupkis merit badge thing, sport, or did your factually-challenged/fundamentally-dishonest, ignorant anonymous ass just fail to get through four one-syllable words without fookin' it up and forget how to use spell-check again, little fella.

Either way, you're gonna have to do better than the ol' "Maybe I don't have any evidence to support my wing-nut nonsense and maybe I don't know my factually-challenged ass from my ignorant-trash elbow, but I'm a "real" Vermonter and we don't have to substantiate our psychotic slop and besides, you're a flatlander so go back to where ya came from and just try saying that stuff in Zimbabwe!" song and dance, little fella.

A) Assuming you're not lying your coalition of the clueless ass off about this, too, neither NEK or your ignorant anonymous ass had anything to do with where you were born, punk. Nothin'. Zip. Nada. Bupkis.
Only ignorant anonymous trash with bupkis would pretend that they did.

B) Given the fact that you've clearly got bupkis, fallen back and embraced A and everything that goes with it, irrespective of whether you're from Burlington or Biloxi, you've established yourself as a dinosaur. Go find your ignorant, anonymous, brain-dead bupkis-spewing ass a tar pit and fall in it.

Always a pleasure.

Nope. Mostly he just repeats the same old right wing lies.

I could repeat the left wing lies but it would take up more space than Coop's posts.

Gee, still more ignorant anonymous trash with bupkis seconding the delusional-dreck dealin' emotions of ignorant anonymous trash with bupkis.

Imagine that.

Always a pleasure.

"I was born and raised in Vermont- were you??"

"Yep."

Good for you, little factually-challenged, nameless-nitwit fella.

And legend has it that when Shaq was informed in the womb that he'd become a CPA and top out at 5'8" and 135 pounds, he refused to accept his fate and by sheer force of will, he made himself a 7'2" 300 pound force who ruled the NBA paint for over a decade while ensuring he'll be a unanimous, first-ballot choice who'll walk straight into the Hall of Fame as soon as he retires and becomes eligible.

"As for not offering solutions to current problems, you haven't been paying attention. I have offered many - it's the Coop responses who NEVER offer solutions."

And when did your ignorant anonymous ass offer any "solutions" to anything, nekkie boy?

That's what I thought.

"Wow. You're comparing yourself to JWCoop, the world's biggest fool. The fact that you read what he writes shows that you are a fool too."

Well, if your ignorant anonymous ass doesn't read my posts, putz, why does it keep responding to them claiming I don't offer any solutions?

In other words, you're still dumb, you're still scum and your ignorant anonymous ass has still got bupkis.

Thanks for clearin' that up.

Christ! Can't you coalition of the clueless cretins come up with somebody who can actually offer me some semblance of a challenge and make me crack a sweat!

Your ignorant anonymous asses have had 8 months to muster something up and it's still the same steady diet of easily-defused and dismissed delusional-dreck and unsubstantiated psychotic slop with no basis in fact.

Eight months of - Oh, yeah, I was born in Vermont, were you?, Shumlin's got a big nose and Symington's an ugly Gargoyle from nameless nitwits with bupkis billing themselves as "gaye's unibrow" is the best you coalition of the clueless cretins can come up with before ya, invariably, fall off the cliff of cluelessness into the abyss where ignorant anonymous trash with bupkis go to die.

Always a pleasure.

Coop - "You know ALL the problems but not once have you come up with a solution."

Again, nekkie boy, just which part of pull the plug on the jimi douglas experience, replace him with a competent Governor who gives a damn about Vermont and Vermonters continues to give your ignorant, ill-informed, bupkis-spewin' ass trouble?

Granted, it's not all Doogie's fault. Like the other 49 Governors, he's a victim of the incompetent, illegitimate trash in the White House and his disastrous policies, but doogie and, for the most part, the gop-scum Legislative minorities in DC and Montpelier supported and continue to support those disastrous policies and want to see them remain in effect and continue, so they're part of the problem, too.

Clearly, given the facts, anyone who supports Bush doesn't give a damn about this Country and anyone who continues to support the doogie/dubie debacle doesn't give a damn about Vermont.

I'm not gonna sugarcoat if for ya and I can't dumb it down for ya any more than that, nekkie boy.

Frankly, if you and your coalition of the clueless cretins can't grasp those facts, you're wastin' my Dog's oxygen and it's probably best that your ignorant, ill-informed asses don't vote in the first place.

Always a pleasure.

Just thought I would break your chain of 4 straight non-sense posts.

When you have something constructive to say you should express yourself!
The only thing you seem to excel in is name calling.

NEK has left a new comment on the post "Tele- transport":

"Just thought I would break your chain of 4 straight non-sense posts."

Gee, why am I not surprised that your ignorant, ill-informed ass can't spell nonsense despite the fact that it doles out nothing else.

Nonsense, eh? How so?

That's what I thought.

In other words, you're still dumb, you're still scum and ya still got bupkis to substantiate your ignorant slop.

Thanks for clearin' that up, nekwit.

Always a pleasure.
Dismissed.

Gee, your ma's lettin' your ignorant anonymous, bupkis-spewin' ass stay up late tonight, little factually-challenged fella.

Lucky you. Does that apply to just you or to all of your ignorant anonymous ass's invisible little factually-challenged, nameless-nitwits friends for whom you presume to speak?

Always a pleasure.

That right Coopy. Anon had permission to stay up late. Contrast that to you hiding under the sheets with a flash light so mom doesn't know you are up posting to the BFP.

After all you need your rest. Sunday's are always busy at Ben and Jerry's and growing boys need a good night's sleep.

Get Coop his meds.

Coopy,

Get off the internet and go to work. Your shift at B&J's starts at noon.

Mom
