GOP moves

Tayt Brooks, who for the last few years has been lobbying for the Home Builders’ & Remodelers’ Association of Northern Vermont, will become the Vermont Republican Party's executive director, the party announced today.

Brooks replaces Alden Guptill, who's going to work for John McCain's presidential campaign as deputy regional campaign manager for New England. The regional campaign manager is, of course, the Vermont Republican Party's former chairman, Jim Barnett.

Brooks will be working to help get Republicans elected to the Legislature. He knows firsthand how hard that can be. He ran unsucessfully in 1998 and 2000 against Rep. Ron Allard, a Democrat. Allard, as it turns out, has been a bit of a friend to Republicans by helping to sustain gubernatorial vetoes, much to the anguish of his own party.

Brooks makes the job transition June 10. He said of his new job:
“I am excited to have this opportunity to contribute to a great team. There is a
lot at stake in this election. I’m looking forward to helping fiscally
responsible candidates win in November and to restore some commonsense balance
to the State House.”

He likely got the blessing of his boss at the home builders' association, Joe Sinagra, who's active in the Republican Party.

Comments:
Man, did this dude pick the wrong year to join the GOP sinking ship. Good luck restoring that "commonsense balance." Does that mean hoping more Democrats start supporting the GOP's failed economic and global strategies? Or is more on a state basis, hoping more Dems and Progs get behind big business and corporate welfare?

Tayt will be a huge asset to a party that, though in the minority in this small state, will soon one day again represent the strong moral values that dearly lack in this extremely liberal state. Anything to the extreme is harmful. Hopefully those that want to restore balance will see the fiscal and moral policies of the Republican party rise to the top once again here in Vermont. Good luck Tayt.

Right on!

The party has made a great pick with Mr. Brooks. He knows Vermont well, understands the legislative process, and is well respected by Democrats and Republicans alike. He will bring respectability and intelligence to a party that is often at the fringe of the far right.

His challenge will be to rebuild a party infrastructure that is dying off. This will be a tough year to bring a younger generation into the party - and the party desperately needs some youthful energy.

The GOP picks a lobbyist to lead their party ... and then lectures Vermonters about ethics.

Ha! It's no wonder the GOP is in the toilet!

It doesn't matter what Tayt thinks or says - it will all be scripted by Jim Barnett/Neale Lunderville/Jason Gibbs.

Douglas doesn't say a thing unless it is cleared by them.

Not so long ago Democrats just hated being called "liberal" and now it is cool again. The same Democrats have made being a "Republican" some kind of disease.
Perhaps even the Democrats should be alittle more accepting of others.

..."I’m looking forward to helping fiscally responsible candidates win in November..?

Fiscally responsible candidates, eh? Damn. That's cold.

Gee, the guy hasn't even started yet and he's already seen the light and become a Dem.

He just may redeem himself yet.

How quickly you forget that the Dems ran a former lobbyist for Guv last time around.

false. nice try though.

The Democrats need to be more tollerant of the Republicans corrupt ideas.

No, we don't. Tolerating corrupt gops and their "ideas" is why we're in Iraq and over 50K US Troops and counting have been needlessly killed or maimed, why the Country's in debt up to its eyeballs to China, why our roads and bridges are falling apart and gas and heating oil is 4 bucks/gallon and rising.

You can get a car that gets better mileage but you can only turn the thermostat down so far in January and February.

Brain-dead Bush-league Gops are the problem. Losing them is the solution.

Scuddy Parker...head of lobbying organization Socially Responsible Business (whatever the hell that means)

Gee, that makes him a regular Jack Abramoff, Billy Tauzin or Charlie Black lobbyin' for Myanmar, little fella.

Nice try.

Dismissed.

yawn

It's sad to see how how the local liberals in VT try and fend off truth and not be accepting of their own falacies.

It is clear that Scuddy was a lobbyist and ran for Governor. The truth is hard to take for VT liberals because they feel they have a sense of entitlement here and aren't able to take responsibility for their own actions. The Republican Party supports individuals standing up and owning their personal mistakes and triumphs and improve their own lives with less help from the Government. I guess taking the easy way out and blaming others is what it comes down to for you VT libs. I never got anything for free and I work for everything I get or don't get. I don't blame Republican or Democrat. I take responsibility in action. Not bitter words ... Tayt Brooks is a fine man. Congratulations for earning your way by hard work Tayt. That is leading by example.

I always wondered who the most arrogant person in VT was ... I know now. I can't believe I have been cooped up this long ... You really need a dose of reality or a real job. Anyone can play cut and paste and make an argument. You ought to find a real job that actually utilizes free thought.

Dismissed and rendered useless.

Add those thoughts up on a calculator. It certainly is to large for your 8 fingers to get a grasp on ....

"I always wondered who the most arrogant person in VT was ..."

Well, I'm sure your ignorant anonymous ass will continue to live out the remaining hours of your worthless existence wondering why you keep burning your hand on the stove when the burner glows red, too, little factually-challenged fella. Given the facts and your limited gifts and circumstances, it would be unreasonable to expect a different result.

"... I know now. I can't believe I have been cooped up this long ..."

Well, I'm sure that once ya complete treatment the parole board will smile on your ignorant, anonymous ass eventually, little filly. Just take it one day at a time.

"..You really need a dose of reality or a real job...."

"..Anyone can play cut and paste and make an argument..."

You'd think so, wouldn't ya, yet still your ignorant, anonymous, lunatic-fringe ass continues to flounder and fail to surmount that hurdle.

If only ya had a case, a clue, access and a willingness to examine the facts, auntie amerika.

Then again, if that were true, you wouldn't be you.

Always a pleasure.

Dismissed.

Are we really still talking about Scudder Parker?

"yawn"

Gee, and it only took your ignorant, anonymous ass 2 hours and 5 minutes to cut and paste that, little factually-challenged/nameless-nitwit fella.
That's gotta be a personal best for you.

Always a pleasure.
Dismissed.
