Adjournment

The Legislature gaveled on out of the Statehouse at about 4:30 p.m. amid a tone of peace, love and understanding.

Gov. Jim Douglas ducked into each chamber, gave a short speech in which he mostly complimented them on the session. Then he ducked out of town. None of the usual press conference though spokesman Jason Gibbs had said there would be some sort of media session.

Legislators declared there would be no veto session. If the governor vetoes Vermont Yankee decommissioning they'll appeal to the voters in November to decide who was right, said Senate President Pro Tempore Peter Shumlin.

Easy for him to say. House Speaker Gaye Symington is likely the one who will be trying to appeal to voters. She said she's not seeking re-election to her House seat. Said she won't decide until after she's had a chance to take a few deep breaths whether she'll run for governor. Wouldn't say how long those deep breaths might take.

Shumlin, however, said she'll run. Easier for him to say.

Off subject here, but if you get a chance to read Dennis Jensen's column in the sports section of the Argus/Herald, please do. It's about Douglas going fishing on opening day and what a phony he is, afraid to even bait his own hook. I laughed when I saw the footage on CAX and now an outdoosman is calling Douglas on the carpet for pretending to be someone he's obviously not. I hope Vermont sportspeople read the column and remember it when they enter the voting booth this year. Douglas is a fraud!

Douglas NEVER pretended to be a fisherman. You show a tremendous lack of judgement if you vote with that logic.

Using your logic-Hillary always took pride in claiming she was good around the kitchen. Last week she couldn't figure out how to get coffee out of a coffee maker- that automatically disqualifies her for President!

Well, as long as doogie the dimmer has the lunatic-fringe apologist likes of nek kissin' his incompetent, shrub-shillin' ass, he'll have the coalition of the clueless cretin vote on his hook.

The question is, will be that be enough.

I guess we'll just have to elect a real athlete like Barack the bowler. What was his score, 37? That's a PATHETIC score even for an over-80 senior-citizen handicapped women's league! What was he smoking that day?

In other words, you're dumb, you're scum and ya got bupkis.

Thanks for clearin' that up, little bigot boy.

Always a pleasure.

Gee, I thought I'd just contribute something to the leftist preoccupation with a relationship between sports ability and ability to govern. Jim Bunning (R, KY) for President!

And just what "leftist preoccupation with a relationship between sports ability and ability to govern." would that be, little bigot boy?

That's what I thought.

Bunning lost his fastball in '67, schmuck. His marbles followed in the next cab.

You're dumb, you're scum and ya got bupkis.

Disappear.

That leftist preoccupation might be the barbs thrown at Douglas because he is no Isaac Walton. Read the blogs.

Ah, it "might be", eh?

In other words, you have no evidence to support this load of delusional dreck and don't know what the fook you're talkin' about here, either.

Thanks for clearin' that up, little fella.

Always a pleasure.

I think it's safe to say Gaye is running. She should be given props for taking one for the team.

Will Pollina get out of the race now that a "top tier" Democrat is in the race? Or does Gaye not qualify in his eyes?

If not, I don't think Wormgate is going to be enough to bring down Douglas. Haven't seen Pollina or Gaye gutting a deer for the camera lately...

Gaye in the race might keep Doesless under 50 percent, which would throw it to the legislature. Hope they don't find a way to F it up, like they always do. Doesless doesn't support the popular vote, so remember that if he captures the popular vote in November but doesn't get to 50 percent. Careful what you ask for Jimmy! God, that would be so sweeeet!

Tell me again what leadership contribution Gaye has made over her time as Speaker. She has failed to pass legislation even with the clear majority. She has spoken against Douglas' efforts for an economic stimulus program and then when it is time to support her words with actions rolls over at the end to support it. She routinely displays no understanding of VT's difficult financial position and resists steps to increase the state's revenue basis in a meaningful and sustainable manner.

So why is she a better choice than a Gov that has taken steps to address the state's issues and has shown he is effective in driving the political process to successful conclusion?

Nice try, little fella. I think her record as Speaker is mixed. Given the fact that Doogie the Dimmer has repeatedly refused to negotiate in good faith, Symington should have taken a much harder line with him.

Then again, given the fact that she's been entirely too trusting of an untrustworthy, incompetent Governor who's repeatedly failed to get shrub to fund unfunded Federal mandates like NCLB leaving Vermonters to pick up the tab depriving Vermont Coffers of Vermont Tax Revenues paid by Vermont Tax Payers for Vermont Projects and purposes, it puts the lie to your ludicrous, factually-challenged, fundamentally-dishonest, lunatic-fringe contentions that she's prevented Doogie the Dimmer from enacting policies to benefit the Vermont Economy when, clearly, the record and the facts say different.

Of course, nobody ever accused the likes of your ignorant, ill-informed, Un-American, lyin'-swine, anonymous ass of knowing what the hell you were talking about, herr hatespeech.

"She routinely displays no understanding of VT's difficult financial position and resists steps to increase the state's revenue basis in a meaningful and sustainable manner."

Well, given the fact that she's gone along with the Governor far too often and he's been able to override his vetoes when she didn't allowing him to inflict his disastrous policies on Vermont bringing us to the predicament we currently find ourselves in, that really puts the lie to that factually-challenged allegation, too, little factually-challenged fella.

Of course, like the rest of the Country, he's been the victim of criminally-incompetent trash in the White House and six years of gop-control of all three branches of the Federal Government for the first six years of Bush's ongoing reign of error that Congress has been unable to put an end to because, like gops in the Vermont House of Representatives, Gops in the Senate put party loyalty and loyalty to bush before the Country and the Constitution and Bush is allowed override reason and the will of the American People and the Dems are unable to reverse the disastrous policies that have brought us to this sad state of affairs.

Then again, Doogie was the Vermont Chair of shrub's '04 reelection campaign and supports the disastrous policies that have brought the Country to the point where we are reduced to praying that the latest Bush Recession doesn't turn into the First Bush Depression as a result of Bush/Doogie faith-based fiscal policies, so, given those facts, there's no free passes for the Doogie/Dubie Debacle. They got what they wanted. If Doogie's policies are so "effective" why does the Doogie Economy need a Doogie stimulus package after six years of Doogie at the helm?

That's what I thought.

"So why is she a better choice than a Gov that has taken steps to address the state's issues and has shown he is effective in driving the political process to successful conclusion?"

Once again, little factually-challenged fella: given the fact that Symington has given Doogie most of what he wants and - so far - Doogie has been able to override legislative vetoes when she didn't, Doogie feels the Vermont Economy needs a stimulus package after six years of Doogie at the helm, just what "effective" steps would those be?

That's what I thought.

Doogie has done for Vermont what Bush did for the Country.

Doogie is the problem. Losing Doogie is the solution.

Always a pleasure.

Dismissed.

Dennis Jensen is my new hero! That column summed up Douglas better then any editor or reporter has been able to. That's the kind of blatent political pandering by Douglas that I wish the Vermont press (proper) would expose more.

Wah! Douglas didn't give the slugs any new "entitlements" this year!
Wah! He stood up to all 100 dim/progs once again!

Suggestion: why the hell don't all of you trustfunder parasites just go back to Mass, Conn, or New York? Or, I hear Oregon is pretty far left. Or San Fran should be to your liking.

TAKE BACK VERMONT!

Bubba seems better suited for the Texas ranch scene, where he can hang with the puritan women and the young mothers-to-be. His constant "Take Back Vermont" pleas only illustrate what a hayseed he truly is. Probably living off his government asistance and/or social security (same thing actually), yet is unable to draw the hypocrisy in his tiny little brain.

Yeah, well, that's our little bigot boy. That ruth dwyer/take back Vermont trash didn't fly when oil was under 30 bucks per barrel, Clinton had eliminated the first Reagan/Bush Deficit, Dean had the Vermont Economy rolling and the WTC Towers were still standin'.

Now that we're reduced to praying the latest Bush Recession doesn't turn into the first Bush Depression and into our sixth year of doogie incompetence, if he's clueless enough to think that delusional dreck is gonna get any traction now, he'd better get doogie to fund a supplemental for this year's War on Christmas.

Maybe he can get the most incompetent, illegitimate, unpopular President in Modern American History to come campaign for it.

Then again, perhaps Vermont will remain the only State unviolated by the scumbag in chief.

Let's hope so. If there's a God, there will be no gops.

Pollina for Governor

Symington for Governor

"Pollina for Governor"

Anonymous trash for Pollina.

I'm sure that's as heartfelt and legit as flush gettin' out the vote for Hilary and any sentence McSame starts with the words "My friends,".

Nice try, schmuck.

JWCOOP said..."In other words, you're dumb, you're scum and ya got bupkis.

Suggestion: Take your ignorant, bigoted-trash slop where the climate suits your sheet, schmuck.

Disappear."

Great argument JW. Lead with an insult and follow up with a charge of racism. It's been your playbook since Day 1. Didn't work then either.

Perhaps you should consider if it isn't you that is intolerant and hateful.

So if Bubba goes to a 'more suitable climate' as you put it, can he borrow your sheets?

JW--Dean sure had Vermont rolling...he gave us the highest tax in the nation. This works for those who have a public official sign your paychecks- most of you do not have to worry about your next meal- you automatically get cost of living raises to cover your excess taxes.

NEK is bitter because he chose to trap his food and make his clothing from animal skins. His comments reflect how naive he is. Like you can't earn a decent living in the private sector. Cut the woe-is-me routine NEK. If you really believe the crap you spew in here, get a job in the public sector and shut the hell up!

NEK is far from bitter. He recognizes the bloated nature of the VT government and what it costs each and everyone of us.

State income taxes and property taxes are maxed out...even Schumlin admits that. So how do we go forward with the basic things we need like roads? Our Dem and Prog majority couldn't figure it out in this last session. They spent the whole session trying to figure our what to cut and what a surprise, they couldn't. Why? Because all they know is to build public sector infrastructure. They can not step back and critically assess what is and isn't really needed to support the citizens of the state.

Time for a change. Gaye leaving is a good first step.

Ah, so the Vermont Economy Dean handed Doogie was in worse shape than, oh, say, today, for example, after 6 years of doogie and the business climate under Dean was so bad in Vermont under Dean that the only people the Economy worked for was "...those who have a public official sign your paychecks- most of you do not have to worry about your next meal- you automatically get cost of living raises to cover your excess taxes."

Really? And your evidence of this delusional dreck is....?

Who signs doogie's checks and what company does he work for, little factually-challenged fella?

That's what I thought.

Too many in the public sector already- it takes 35% of us to support your 65%. Either we work twice as hard or you are hardly working!!

How did Vermont become the highest taxed state in the nation during Dean's 11 years as governor? The dim/progs running the legislature have been doing a great job of maintaining that dubious achievement!

And your evidence of that is.....?
Put away those comic books and read some economic statistics.
This isn't new data- in fact the working class is getting smaller. That is a good reason Vermont's favorite Guv wants to put 400 jobs to rest- we cannot afford them.

NEK: a.k.a. Jason Gibbs, Denise Casey or Hilda Tringe

Well, jw, if you want proof, try to find someone outside your circle of "friends" that works in a responsible job and ask him/her how they like the taxes they pay in Vermont so the layabouts can continue to "lay about". (Oh excuse me, except when there's a war to protest, a president to be impeached, a utility to be shut down, a middle-class housing start to be fought, or a sex offender to be "punished")
