Standing by his man

The Boston Globe had a story this morning about Sen. John McCain's dwindling staff and campaign. Standing next to the senator in the photo was one Jim Barnett, McCain's New Hampshire director and former chairman of the Vermont Republican Party.

Check it out at this LINK. They even dress alike.

When we asked him a few weeks ago how he'd feel about backing a different dog in this fight, he wasn't biting. McCain is the only name he knows how to say these days. But let's just say he had to come up with an alternative plan, and it probably wouldn't be working at McDonald's. Who would you pair him with?

- Terri Hallenbeck

Comments:
I'd pair him with Vitter in Louisiana.

With Duke Cunningham in a comeback.

I think Fred Thompson.

Or Fred Flintstone -- cause they are about the same.

How about the Tom Delay comeback tour? Barnett would be a natural.

Perhaps Rich Tarrant could find Barnett a job in Florida.

I'd pair him with Jim Douglas, who is not likely to let his nasty little protege go unemployed.

Well, with Lunderville in charge of the Agency of Transportation, I can't see what would prevent Mad Dog from being a department head in Governor Veto's administration.

the devil?

Credit "Mad Dog" and the "Boy Secretary", both Douglas cronies, with the Karl Rove style partisan politics that have entered Vermont.

Along with Jason Gibbs, the trio are known as the "nasty boys". And they bring partisanship to a new level.

Who do we have to credit for machine politics in Vermont - none other than Ralph Wright.

Couldn't be any worse than Gaye Symington.

Who cares about a washed up GOP party man. What about the violation of my privacy with this prebate thing?!

What the hell is our legislature doing????

"Nasty Boys??" Please. Douglas's little boys are as whitebread and sheltered as the 802 rappers. Each would get eaten alive in the real world. There's a reason they protect Douglas like they do. Without Uncle Jim, the gravy train comes to a quick halt. Ask Barnett, who, to his credit, is at least trying to get his feet wet outside Vermont, and out from under Jim's and the VTGOP's wings. But a previous blogger was right, Barnett will be back home soon and Uncle Jim or Aunty Roper will throw him a bone.
