Obama visit

They didn't actually come out and endorse the guy, but the appearance of Vermont's ENTIRE congressional delegation at a Norwich fundraiser for Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama last Sunday is a pretty clear indicator of who they're for in 2008.

Obama spoke to an upbeat crowd at the event hosted by Bill and Jane Stetson of Norwich, two behind-the-scenes political players who went all out for Howard Dean four years ago and now are behind the man from Illinois.

So to, it would seem are Sens. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., and Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., as well as Rep. Peter Welch, D-Vt. Check out the video put up on the Web today by the Vermont Obama folks by clicking HERE.

Oh, sure, Bernie qualified his introductory remarks by saying that "whoever the next president is." But, hey, Obama came to Burlington last year to stump for him and Clinton didn't. Same goes for Welch. And Leahy's remarks at the Norwich event were perhaps the most pro-Obama of the three.

Finally, we learn from the video that Carolyn Dwyer, the state's top Democratic campaign strategist, is now "working" for Obama and raising money for him.

'Nuf said.

Comments:
No surprise that Vermont's trust fund Democrats are supporting Obama. Clinton and Edwards live too much in the real world for the set who were in Norwich last Sunday. Apparently there was a minimum donation of $1000 required to even get in to last Sunday's event. These Dems need to talk to real Vermonters for whom a salary of $1000 a week is considered high income.

Yes, let's ask "have you been injured?" Mushroom head Welch what his weekly salary at Welch,Graham and Manby was / is. Peter doesn't have a clue what it's like to struggle to live in Vermont, especially now with his "extra" $160,000.00 income from us taxpayers that is over and above all his vast wealth....

And Carolyn Dwyer "top VT campaign strategist?" Please. She's a fundraiser and that's it. Not that she's unsuccessful, but being the "campaign manager" for Leahy's non-campaign against McMullen in 2004 hardly qualifies her as a campaign whiz. Nice person, great fundraiser, but strategist?

BTW, VT is a non-event in presidential politics, so presidential campaign strategist in VT is something of an oxymoron. All you need VT for is fundraising and who cares how people vote or who they vote for?

Well, she put together an event that raised over $250,000 in a single night. She must be doing something right.

Just goes to prove that today's left-wing Democrats have more money than brains...nothing more.

Same can be said for today's Republicans.

Republicans work against campaign finance limits and complain about successfull Democratic fundraising.

Thanks for the video mention, Sam!

Bernie was pushing Edwards at our July 4th parade, but in the end he support whoever Leahy tells him to.

Former Georgia Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney to Speak in Burlington

Burlington, VT -- August 16, 2007 -- The Green Party of Vermont will be hosting former Georgia Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney on Thursday, August 23rd at 7:00 P.M. at Contois Auditorium, City Hall, in Burlington which will be followed by Q&A from the audience. The event is free and open to the public.

A fundraising reception for McKinney will be held at 884 S. Prospect Street in Burlington from 5:30-6:30 P.M. before the event with a required minimum donation of $25.

Cynthia McKinney? Is she raising money for her prozac prescription?
she's a nut, people. She was a big supporter of Robert Mugabe and slugged a Capitol Police officer. Greens, beware. Do a google search on her and then decide if you want to give her money.

By the way, Carolyn Dwyer also ran Peter Welch's campaign last year. Seems like "top political strategist" applies here.

How come none of them are smiling in the photo?

Obama is a coward. He is not a leader. He talks about the days of Jim Crow, when black Americans were told to accept "separate but equal" schools, water fountains, lunch counters and all the rest. He recalls the fact that when his parents were married, their inter-racial marriage was still illegal in some states. He says he is about hope and equality, and bringing America together. And then he says he thinks same sex couples should get civil unions with all the rights of marriage, but not marriage. Suddenly separate IS equal. Marriage rights don't matter. Maybe if his parents were told that they could only have a civil union that would have been ok. Maybe if Obama and his wife could only have a civil union because of their race, that would be ok. He is a hyprocrite. And too smart not to know it. That means he cares more about votes than following his values.

right on, Obama is a sell out

Go Richardson

Richardson? Are you kidding? The guy actually believes that homosexuality is a choice. And he took a page from the Rove "I'm not a scientist" playbook. Check it out:
http://rawstory.com/news/2007/2008_candidate_Richardson_says_being_gay_0810.html

In the case of gay marriage vs. civil unions, separate clearly IS equal. Same rights, different name. This is something every middle schooler can tell you. It's called the Transitive property: a=b, b=c, a=c. Please don't distort the discussion by comparing civil unions with segregation; it doesn't apply at all and indicates a general lack of intellectual integrity. The real complaint is that the Federal government doesn't recognize civil unions, but it wouldn't recognize gay marriages either, even if that's what individual states called them.

Shumlin for Governor
Partridge for Lt. Governor

Oh, yea!

Yeah, Shumlin for Governor of Shumlinland.

Bubba, who's your man for the Republican nomination at this point?

Inasmuch as all liberal dimocrats are pathelogical liars, demogogues, and lacking of ANY remote morals or principals, I would say that ANY current Republican contender would be preferable to ANY sleeze-bag dimo. Hey, just trace the evolution of Vermont from the 80's to the present! I doubt if any state in the union has done as poorly in almost any category. From a proud, independent, conservative state to a wretched welfare, immoral cesspool in only 20 years or so! The youth that could be the backbone of the state leave for greener pastures and what do we get in return? A bunch of flatlander potheads, "activists" and hacky-sack morons! Sad.

It's "pathological." It's "demagogues." It's "principles."

In the span of just 11 words, in a single sentence, you misspelled three words.

Congratulations.

Bubba, in addition to mispelling several words, you didn't answer the question I asked. Obviously you prefer a Republican to a Democrat, which Republican do you prefer above the others?

Thompson.

Do you even know Carolyn Dwyer? She's definitely not a nice person.
