Democrats coming to town

The Democratic National Committee's Executive Committee and the Executive Committee of the Association of State Democratic Party Chairs will convene Saturday in Burlington, the hometown of the DNC's boss, former Gov. Howard Dean.

Dean, who could ride his bike to the meeting at the Hilton (which until today was called the Wyndham), will speak about the DNC's 50-state strategy, the Democrats' victories last November, the DNC's partnerships with state parties. You might recall that Dean dispatched DNC staffers to states, including Vermont, to help them run their on-the-ground efforts last fall and left some of them in place for the next cycle.

Also on the agenda: The Democratic Party’s plan for keeping its majority and taking back the White House in 2008.

Comments:
I suppose MoveOn.org will be here too. Remember after the 2004 elections they boldly made the claim "The Democratic Party - We bought it, we own it"

For a good example of the type of grass-roots Democratic activity Dean wants to develop, see the "Daily Digest" entry for Friday, August 3, on the Vermont Democratic Party's Web site:

If Governor Scissorhands is the governor for McDonald's, why can't the Democrats find someone to run against him next year? Perhaps the visiting DNC members could give the Vt Dems an answer to that question.

Great website!

How will it reform healthcare?

How will it give the D's the spine to stand up to the Gov on the energy bill?

I wish someone could take back that ridiculous party and end the Iraq occupation.

VERMONT Democrats are so lost!

It's true. VT dems are lost. Lucky for us, the Repubs are pretty lost too.

Once Governor Veto retires, the GOP won't have anyone to step up.

Not true.

If the GOP was smart, it would reach out to some of the moderates in the party. Since that hasn't happened to date, don't hold your breath. But there are some decent Republicans now serving in office.

Like Bill Doyle ... who naps through public meetings ... or Vince Illusi ... who doesn't know which party he belongs to ...

Please, Ian, no party flacks advertising on this blog, ok?

What new tax will they dream up on the shores of Champlain? H'mmm let's tax the air...how 'bout the blue green algae...that would bring in tons of dough...maybe they'll propose to tax the profits of sicko Michael Moore

The democrats had better come up with a candidate to run against Douglas soon.

Forget the democrats - we need Anthony Polina!

No one cares about the useless Democrats on Vermont.

What ever it takes to get away without dealing with the things the rest of us want the legislature to deal with.
