Will there be a veto

So, when will legislators return to address the budget that Gov. Jim Douglas doesn't like? Your guess is as good as anyone's.

Read about it HERE.

Today, the governor and legislative leaders will hold separate news conferences at which they will seek to sell the public on their point of view.

Do you foresee a veto or is it averted? Can the Legislature override this veto?

Jim Douglas would prefer to be called King Douglas - however, 180 legislators voted and teh majority was in favor of the budget - Jim Douglas should respect democracy!

Gov Douglas lacks vision, lacks leadership - he prefers the "my way or the highway" style of compromise!

I hope Speaker Smith and Pro Tem Shumlin do not compromise unless the Governor is willing to go a long way towards the legislative passed budget.

Well, it would be nice if some of the 180 legislators actually understood the budget that they passed. It is full of errors that will cost this state in the end.

Veto it and start over.
Thank you Jim.

He won't veto the budget BECAUSE it will be overridden.

The tide of power has shifted. If Douglas has another veto overridden the decision on his electoral future will have been made for him. At least if he just signs the budget he would still have a sliver of a chance to win in 2010.

Time for the legislature to grow up and realize people out here are hurting.
VETO it, Jim and THANK YOU!!

Stick to your guns, Governor. Veto this budget.

You are so right Betty Anne. that's exactly why we should cut more services and jobs.

The governor did this dance with the union too. Only problem is he always wants to lead.

Give me a break - Jim Douglas and Neale Lunderville have only one goal - destroy the state workers union.

Jim Douglas has no remorse for state workers or their families.

If he did, he would accept the legislature's proposal to offer retirement incentives rather than layoffs.

Smart prediction there, Mr./Ms. Smug! Wrong!

Maybe he'll lose in 2010, but he had the b____ to do the right thing.

Please veto this budget.
