Gubernatorial debate by the lake

The candidates are here are the Hilton, circulating among the approximately 100 people gathered for this debate sponsored by Associated Industries of Vermont.

At this moment, Republican Gov. Jim Douglas and Democratic House Speaker Gaye Symington are about one table apart, shaking hands. Hope they don't accidentally back into each other. Independent Anthony Pollina is at the back of the room.

I got a little advance information about the questions. They will cover all the issues important to this business audience -- from electric rates and how to control them, to whether there should be a moratorium on new road projects so the available funding could be spent to catch on maintenance on roads and bridges. There is expected to be a question about drug and alcohol in the workplace, whether economic development should focus just on green enterprises, plus some of the usual questions about taxes and health care.

The debate is scheduled to run about two hours.

That, of course, was before the first dude refused to honor a subpoena.

Given those facts, why the hell else would anybody vote for Palin.

Truth be told, given the facts and the Palin/McCain record, if this about issues and fact or a prize fight, the ref would have stopped it.

Christ, McCain didn't know what day it is, how many houses he owns or what kind of car he drives before the fight even started and Obama's been landed every punch he's thrown since the opening bell.

McCain may own a lotta houses but they're all in Pallookaville on the corner of Dream Street and Canvas Back Court.

Face it, if it wasn't for ignorance, racism or both, Obama would be be up 90-10 over McCain.

Sure, that 10 percent would still be ignorant, Anti-American, racist trash, but ten percent is a more acceptable number than 40 percent.

That's a hell of a lot of wasted oxygen. Ten percent is wasteful enough.

Dead-on. It all fits with the Liberals need to apologize for everything. You see it in everything they do.

It would be nice to see them actually show some pride in all the great things this country has accomplished. They need to learn they are in place to represent the best interests of America, not every single special interest group around the world that makes noise.

The attacks against Palin are disgusting.

You know what's great about Palin? She made rape victims pay for their own rape kits. That's right. Why should the government help out these people? If they'd work a little harder they could afford their own rape kit.

So what if she tried to fire the town librarian because she wouldn't ban the books that Sarah didn't like? Thoes books are bad anyhow. Why would you even want to read them? You shouldn't have that choice.

WASILLA -- Back in 1996, when she first became mayor, Sarah Palin asked the city librarian if she would be all right with censoring library books should she be asked to do so.

"According to news coverage at the time, the librarian said she would definitely not be all right with it. A few months later, the librarian, Mary Ellen Emmons, got a letter from Palin telling her she was going to be fired.

The libs should all worry about rape kits and library books. Meanwhile, Obama's financial advisor's Franklin Raines and James Johnson, are mum on fixing the current trillion dollar mess that they helped create.
Raines worked for Fannie Mae and collected $96 million over five years and refused to listen to Bush and McCain when they suggested more controls be put into place. The Senate Banking chair Chris Dodds and the House chair Barney Frank went nuts when Bush suggested they inact more controls. James Johnson and Jamie Gorlick also stole 40+ million (bonuses) for ruining Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Dobbs, Obama, Kerry and Clinton collected over $500 million in campaign contributions and all voted in unison to tell Bush hands-off.
Obama is a crook, a fraud and a phony.
Meanwhile, Pelosi wants the market investigated- but no mention of Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac- how convenient. Obama is mum on how to fix the mess!!! Why don't you ask the ones who f***** it up, they all worked for you!

The fact that McCain thought Gram was "knowledgeable" on economic issues in a good way or that one meeting with Psycho Sarah Palin revealed his soul mate and her relative proximity to Russia made her an expert on foreign policy who's qualified to be President tells you all you need to know about the scope and depth of McSame's cluelessness.

Alaska is home to Mt McKinley. McKinley is the tallest peak in North America. That doesn't make Palin an expert on outer space.
