Lunch will be served

Here's one way to figure out when the Legislature will adjourn. I am told that one of the Statehouse cafeteria staff asked the House speaker whether to plan on lunch Saturday. She said yes.

- Terri Hallenbeck

Comments:
Gaye wants an additonal 12 hours to try and find more ways to kiss Douglas's ass before the end of the session. She's good that way.

Doogie the Dimmer wants at least another day to sandbag the legislature and/or fail to bargain in good faith before blaming any adjournment delay on the Legislature.

Vermont is fortunate we have someone with fiscal restraint who has to pick up the pieces from a Legislature that over taxes, over charges (fees) and over regulates.

It's nice to have people in the legislature who will block Jim Douglas's tremendously expensive government boondoggles that we can't afford, like the Circ Highway.

It is great that everyone is blocking everyone else. Nero fiddles while Rome burns.

Eventually, this partisan BS has to stop and the legislature needs to learn to work with the Gov. to get something done. This is another year of accomplishing nothing of importance. Infrastructure improvements aren't being made. Our financial obligations grow. The business environment is no more condusive to new investment. Another company just closed down today in St J.

Congrats.... on another dismal legislative session. We should be pleased. Progress has come to a dead stop.

"Eventually, this partisan BS has to stop and the legislature needs to learn to work with the Gov."

The Gov. needs to work with the legislature to get things done.

Symington has passed almost every piece of legislation that Douglas has proposed -- not counting the billion dollar "ideas" like the Circ.

"Progress has come to a dead stop."

Yep -- ever since Douglas took office.

The legislature could've adjourned days ago if they hadn't insisted on bringing up silly do nothing (appropriately named) resolutions like asking our businesses not to raise prices for a year. How friggin' stupid can they be? Time for a change (isn't that what Americans are calling for?) in the arrogant majority running the State House. Run Gaye Run

The leg couldn't have adjourned days ago if the gov had introduced his "stimulus plan" earlier.

They wanted to work with the Gov to put the realistic pieces of the plan in place.

It's the Governor who delayed the legislative session.

BTW, if they end Saturday, this is the shortest session in 20 years.

Since the democrat controlled legislature has done nothing of substance there is no reason to continue any longer. If it weren't for the Guv initiating an economic stimulus plan the democrats would have nothing to claim as their idea....

It's the governor that hasn't done anything.

The guy's a lump. Just cuts ribbons and collects paychecks.

It's the governor that hasn't done anything.

The guy's a lump. Just cuts ribbons and collects paychecks.

You not only make a ridiculous statement, you repeat it.
What has the legislature done this year? They are the ones who are suppose to introduce legislation- NOT the Guv. Wake up and see who is dragging this state down- it's the legislature, not the Administration.

C'mon lets be honest here. The democrat legislature has done nothing to benefit Vermont. The have no ideas of their own.

All ignorant anonymous trash with bupkis, all the time.

All you nameless nitwits do is slime the legislature while you mindlessly praise the Doogie/Dubie Debacle.

He's had six years. He had a gop Legislature. He lost it. He lost it again. If Vermont wanted him to have a gop rubber-stamp legislature, he'd still have one. We don't. He doesn't.

He is doing no more for Vermont than Bush has done for the Country.

He chaired the Schmuck's Campaign in '04 while pretending he never heard of the slug and has gotten bupkis for Vermont from the Feds.

Doogie is the problem. Losing Doogie is the solution.

Is NCLB a Federal Mandate? Has Bush fully funded it? Ever?

If a Federal Mandate is not fully-funded it's an Unfunded Federal Mandate.

When the Feds don't hold up their end, who ends up paying for it?

That's what I thought.

Entergy is trying to fleece Vermont. Again. He let them get away with murder last year and we got collapsing cooling towers and drunk employees for our trouble. Now they want to fleece us again. What is Doogie doing to prevent them from fleecing us? Again!

That's what I thought.

Like Bush, the Doogie/Dubie Debacle is the problem. Losing the Doogie/Dubie Debacle is the solution.

Dismissed.

Really? And your evidence in support of this factually-challenged/fundamentally-dishonest/delusional-dreck statement is.....?

That's what I thought.

Always a pleasure.

You have your head up your *** again JW. Don't you think the schools have some responsibility in the test scores? All they are worried about is their contacts, thanks to Dorta. VT has the 2nd lowest student/teacher ratio in the US and they still say "more money, better scores". That is hogwash- in the past 10 years, VT has gone from 100,000 students to 90,000 and during the same time teachers went from 10,000 to over 12,000. The education budget went from $600,000 to $1.6 BILLION.- and you blame NCLB!!
and VT Yankee- how are they fleecing us? they supply electricity at .041 per KW, the lowest in NE and we want to kick them out, or assess excess profits tax. OBVIOUSLY JW, you have never worked in the private sector- your checks have always been signed by a public official.

Thanks to Entergy Vermont has some of the lowest electricity in New England. Of course this is lost on mindless slackers like jw who think the "stuff" that heats his furnished room comes from the heat fairy. Duh, Entergy is a corporation, must be bad!

So, how did that veto-proof-majority-in-both-chambers thing work out? Might as well start discussing it here, cause it will be a major topic in the fall elections.

they wasted it. and it will be a long time before they have such an opportunity again.

They wasted it due to the leadership of Shumlin and Symington.

What we have learned just recently is Shumlin is smarter than Symington. He isn't dumb enough to set himself up for a political spanking by running a statewide campaign like Gaye is contemplating.

Apparently in her mind leading 2 years of gridlock and politaical incompetency qualifies her for even more responsiblity.

You have to believe the people of VT are smarter than that.

JW, you are the master of all things political. How did you manage to not state this basic fact? Once again NEK has to take you to task.

And I thought you were big on the fair and balance presentation of the facts.

Fine. What veto-proof majority are you referring to, little factually-challenged fella?

Is it your clueless-cretin contention that Symington is one of 100 Dems in the Vermont House of Representatives?

That's what I thought.

Once again, you reveal yourself to be ignorant trash with bupkis and lyin' scum to boot.

If you can't make your point without lying, you don't have one.

You can't. You don't.

You're dumb, you're scum and ya got bupkis, punk.

Disappear.

What's most amusing is that Symington and Shumlin agreed to nearly everything Gov douglas proposed in January and later in his stimulus package. They know they can't oppose the Douglas agenda because it's actually what Vermonters want Montpelier to focus on.

Douglas does what he says he's going to do. Wish we could say the same thing for the Dems who would rather spend their time on fining people for advertising puppies for sale in their community paper, adding an H to Alburg(h), trying to impeach the president and trying to block a sales tax holiday because it would result in less money for government (only the most extreme liberals would care more about what it costs government rather than what it saves the individual...as if it's the governments money to begin with).

Douglas pushed some good public policy through the most out of touch legislature in the country--and blocked a host of ideas that would hurt the economy and cost working Vermonters more money.

Coming out of this session, the Governor and the working Vermonters he represents are hands down the winners.

Well, little factually-challenged fella, if "Symington and Shumlin agreed to nearly everything Gov Douglas proposed in January and later in his stimulus package." how are they fighting him tooth and nail and blocking him at every turn as your ignorant, anonymous ass alleges in virtually every one of your factually-challenged/fundamentally-dishonest/delusional-dreck filled posts, little fella?

That's what I thought.

Moreover, if Vermont wanted doogie the dimmer to have a rubber-stamp legislature, then why isn't Freed or some other gop slug still speaker like they were when the doogie/dubie debacle first took office, little fella?

Is it your nameless-nitwit/clueless-cretin contention that the make up of the Legislature is not a reflection of the will of Vermonters and not a reflection of what Vermonters want Montpelier to focus on, little fella?

That's what I thought.

"Douglas pushed some good public policy through the most out of touch legislature in the country--and blocked a host of ideas that would hurt the economy and cost working Vermonters more money."

Such as? That's what I thought.

Well, little fella, given the fact that the Legislature has to stand for reelection every two years just like the Executive Branch does, how are they any more "out of touch" than doogie the dimmer, little got no evidence to support your psychotic gop-slop nonsense fella?

That's what I thought.

What's amusing is that your ignorant anonymous ass "thinks" you "think" at all, little fella.

Clearly, you don't. I see no evidence that you can.

Of course, the only evidence you nameless-nitwits have been able to produce since your ignorant, anonymous asses got her is that you're ignorant trash with bupkis and you can't produce any evidence to substantiate your factually-challenged slop.

Then again, those facts were never in dispute.

"Coming out of this session, the Governor and the working Vermonters he represents are hands down the winners"

Well, little fella, if the doogie the dimmer economy is doing so well after six years with doogie the dimmer at the helm, why did he feel the need to conjure up a stimulus package to jump start his already-booming economy?

That's what I thought.

Jim equals Joblessness. Give 'em two more and he'll have ya homeless, too!

Always a pleasure.

"Best post of the thread!"

Gee, an ignorant, anonymous-trash poster approves of an ignorant, anonymous-trash with bupkis post from an ignorant, anonymous-trash poster.

What are the odds.

"Thanks for some coherent thought."

Nameless nitwits demonstrating "coherent thought." That's a good one, little nameless-nitwit fella.

Well, herr hatespeech, given the fact that I didn't pen the post you've cited and NEK is allegedly taking me to task over, you've once again established the inescapable fact that you don't know what the fook you're talking about.

Of course, that fact was never in dispute.

"And I thought you were big on the fair and balance presentation of the facts."

I am. Apart from continually establishing the fact that you don't have a case or a clue and don't have any, you don't have any. If you ever stumble across any, feel free to bring 'em to my attention, mein herr.

Always a pleasure

NEK said...

No, that would be your factually-challenged/fundamentally-dishonest head up your ignorant ass, little fella, since I was speaking of NCLB being an Unfunded Federal Mandate and didn't say a word about test scores. By all means, feel free to check.

So, since you clearly continue to be confused and clueless and didn't understand the questions, I'll ask your ignorant, ill-informed, empty-headed ass again and give your clueless-cretin cabeza another shot at answering them.

Is NCLB a Federal Mandate?

Have the Feds fully-funded it?

Has Bush's failure to fund it and Doogie's failure to get him to fund a Federal Mandate left it to Vermonters to pick up the tab for their collective incompetence?

That's what I thought.

"That is hogwash- in the past 10 years, VT has gone from 100,000 students to 90,000 and during the same time teachers went from 10,000 to over 12,000. The education budget went from $600,000 to $1.6 BILLION.- and you blame NCLB!!"
and VT Yankee- how are they fleecing us? they supply electricity at .041 per KW, the lowest in NE and we want to kick them out, or assess excess profits tax.

And the source of the figures you cite in the allegations you make is....?

That's what I thought.

"OBVIOUSLY JW, you have never worked in the private sector- your checks have always been signed by a public official."

Obviously, your ignorant, ill-informed, clueless-cretin ass wouldn't make such a statement without the evidence to support such allegations?

That's what I thought.

Always a pleasure, always a piece of cake.

I can read JW, that is a good place to find facts. NCLB is/was unfunded and may not be the solution but it does hold schools accountable- if we taught the basics (I taught) we wouldn't need EXTRA money. My prior statistics tell us there is room to teach basics. As for your profession- it is not hard to tell who signs your checks!

NEK has left a new comment on the post "Lunch will be served":

"I can read JW, that is a good place to find facts."

Good for you, little fella. That must make your ignorant, ill-informed ass the coalition of the clueless class valedictorian.

As for reading being a good place to find facts, that depends what you read, little fella.

"NCLB is/was unfunded and may not be the solution but it does hold schools accountable- if we taught the basics (I taught) we wouldn't need EXTRA money."

So, what you're saying is that NCLB is an unfunded Federal Mandate that Vermont Tax Payers have to pick up the tab for with Vermont tax revenues generated by Vermont taxes paid by Vermont taxpayers for Vermont projects leaving those Vermont projects underfunded and often uncompleted due to lack of tax revenues in Vermont Tax Coffers that have been depleted to pay for Unfunded Federal Mandates initiated by Gop Presidents, Gop-run Congresses and administered by Gop Governors.

Thanks for clearin' that up, little fella.

"My prior statistics tell us there is room to teach basics."

And, once again, the source of your "prior statistics" is...?

That's what I thought.

Once again, little fella, your ignorant, ill-informed, factually-challenged/fundamentally-dishonest/delusional-dreck opinion is not evidence. It's merely your ignorant, ill-informed, factually-challenged/fundamentally-dishonest/delusional-dreck opinion.
