Announce, she did

Gaye Symington made her announcement this morning, saying it was time for a change in the governor's office.

"Vermont is stuck in neutral," she told the crowd of about 150. "And the failure to move forward is a failure of leadership."

That, you can expect, will be a familiar theme in the race, criticizing Gov. Jim Douglas' leadership.

You can also expect Republican incumbent Jim Douglas to defend his leadership and to characterize Symington's record as one of willingness to spend.

Many Democratic legislators turned out, some party officials and elected leaders such as Rep. Peter Welch, Secretary of State Deb Markowitz and former Gov. Madeleine Kunin, none of whom spoke.

Instead, little-known Rep. John Malcolm, D-Pawlet, was among those who introduced Symington. He acknowledged that the crowd might be wondering why John Malcolm. He was a legislator Symington recruited and who said she always made him feel like he was being heard.

In the end, the weather was perfect. Just goes to show you not to put too much stock in a four-day weather forecast.

But still nobody to run against Welch.

Welch will get a free ride. The VT GOP is too weak to take him on.

Examples of Jim Douglas's Leadership:

a) Crumbling infrastructure
b) Higher Unemployment
c) Larger State Government
d) More Lost Jobs
e) Higher Crime Rate
f) Non-Existent Energy Policy
g) Casting Vermont Negatively For All The World At Every Opportunity
h) Selling Our State Lottery To The Highest Bidder
i) Outsourcing More And More Vermont Jobs And Services
j) Shaming Vermont Outdoorsman By Refusing To Bait His Own Fishing Hook; Looking Pretty Wimpy In The Process
k)Steadfastly Supporting George Bush Even When Most Of Vermont Didn't
l) Borrowing More Money Than Ever To Keep Vermont Afloat Without Regard For Our Future Financial Well Being
m)Saying Nothing While His Relatives Employed Illegal Labor
n) Riding Around In A Huge Suburban (Paid For By Taxpayers) While Vermonters Are Strapped For Gas Cash

Feel free to add to the list. In short, Douglas is a failure in leadership.

Thank you Gaye Symington for your intro- now how are you going to fix things?

For starters, we can get rid of Deadweight Douglas.

Only in Vermont would a total incompetent loser like Symington even CONSIDER being governor! But then again.......Kunin, Dean....hmmm..Symington in a landslide!

And Gaye baby knows how to bait a fish hook? Not.

I like the Yoda-style headline.

Don't cry, little bigot-boy.
Look on the bright side. Pollina is responsible for Dubie's political career. He just may preserve Doogie's.

Then again, he's the only thing that can. It's not like Doogie can run on his record. No gop can.

Without Pollina, Dubie only gets paid to be a pilot for American Airlines by American Airlines.

Always a pleasure.

Dismissed.

And was Symington pretending to be a fisherman for an Opening Day photo op, too, little factually-challenged, nameless-nitwit fella?

That's what I thought.

Is it your coalition of the clueless-cretin contention that Dennis Jensen is an anti-hunting/fishing closet Dem in the pocket of the Sierra Club now, too, little more meshuggah by the minute fella?

That's what I thought.

You're dumb, you're scum and ya got bupkis, punk.

Disappear.

I love it, she is serious, she changed her physical appearance.

"Gaye baby knows how to bait a fish hook?"

At least she doesn't pretend like old Fake-O-Douglas.

Hey, Mark Johnson said he saw Peter Freyne at the event.

Did anybody out there see him and talk to him? I'd be curious to know why he was there. He was certainly never a big Gaye fan...

Gee, a retired newspaperman who covered the State House for decades shows up at a State House event that's been scheduled for the better part of a week.

Clearly, you gops are nine or ten beats behind on a good day, indy, but how detailed a map do ya need, nitwit?

Always a pleasure.

Dismissed.

If Symington were a little shorter, she would be a dead ringer for Yoda.

The new piece of leftist trash that "replaced" the idiot Freyne sounds like he just recycled the same old garbage Freyne spewed for too long. Do they have ANYONE with even half a brain at that rag?

I hear Freyne is running Symington's campaign. Can it be?

How can we get change from a candidate who has held the second highest position in the state of Vermont for the last 4 years, and has a family history of republican politics. You can not get change rehashing rhetoric from one party to the other. Vermont needs to remove themselves from the two party dominance.

"The new piece of leftist trash ..."

It is easier to call someone trash than it is to talk about ideas that can move society forward.

"... has a family history of republican politics."

Who cares what party her father belonged to ... ?

Freyne asked Symington a question that no other man has ever asked her (if you don't know what it was, ask around). After he asked, she saw stars and fireworks and then asked him to join her campaign.

In truth, Freyne's ego is having a tough time adjusting to life out of the Vermont limelight, so he decided to crash the event in hopes that someone would notice. Of course, fellow geez Johnson was happy to help.

Come on people. Just because you have different thoughts and ideas doesn't mean you have to resort to name calling and bullying. I think its great that we have such a diverse population here in Vermont. That's what makes life so interesting. So, please...leave your meanness at your desk and let's discuss ways to improve our world. girliegirl

Oh...and JWCOOP10....please..what can we do to make you a happier person? Do you need a friend?

Amazing what a run for Governor will do for your wardrobe...burlap bags to designer clothes overnight.

Hey, I just asked if anyone had talked to Freyne. I know he's retired, but I was wondering if he was going to do guest columns for Seven Days or something. Or maybe he's just gathering material for a book.

Peter never liked coming to Montpelier even when he had to and he was a frequent critic of Gaye's political style in his column; I just was surprised that he would make the trip for this event and wondered if he'd said something to anyone.

But I forgot, even an innocuous comment like that is provocation for a plateful of snark from Mr. Coop.

And by the way, your "ignorant, anonymous" assertion that I'm a "gop" is based on what, Mr. Coop?

Okay, I guess I asked the question on the wrong blog. Odum over at Green Mountain Daily reports that Peter Freyne is -- I'm not kidding -- working for Dr. Deb Richter on her nascent Progressive campaign for Lt. Gov.

Gee, too bad it wasn't contagious. Your ignorant, anonymous ass has still got bupkis, little factually-challenged fella.

I've seen your act.

"Okay, I guess I asked the question on the wrong blog. Odum over at Green Mountain Daily reports that Peter Freyne is -- I'm not kidding -- working for Dr. Deb Richter on her nascent Progressive campaign for Lt. Gov."

Actually, she'd be running as a Dem, but you've never let yourself be confused by the facts before, I doubt you'll let 'em slow ya down now.

Always a pleasure.

Dismissed.

Oops, you're right Mr. Coop, and I misspoke. Deb's constant appearances at Progressive Party events and her substitute role on Anthony Pollina's radio show notwithstanding, she is apparently considering a run as a Democrat, a la Peter Clavelle.

Still, "I've seen your act," hardly qualifies as the factual proof you constantly demand from everyone else on the board to back up their opinions. You got any?

Coop has no proof. That and his cut and paste insults are the 2 things you can always count on from him.

"Really? And your ignorant, anonymous ass would know this... how, little factually-challenged fella?"

Because anyone, except yourself Mr. Cooper, who knows and has observed Freyne understands that if his ego were water, it would fill Lake Champlain and then some. Actually, judging by some of your sanctimonious posts, your ego might be even larger than Freyne's, which would explain why you defend him so strongly. Birds of a feather, flock together.

It's election season again.....

VOTE for ME, JWCOOP for Village IDIOT.

I am JWCOOP and I approved this message

Symington in designer clothes -
you must be dreaming.
