Vermont to decide this thing?

It's sort of amusing to hear people who were surprised by the Iowa results. They had assumed Hillary Clinton would prevail over Barack Obama and John Edward et al. Today, there are undoubtedly plenty of people surprised that Clinton came back in New Hampshire.

I would not necessarily have predicted that things would play out exactly as they have, but let's face it, there are ebbs and flows to this stuff. I don't think we can assume anything. Didn't Howard Dean prove that in 2004?

Perhaps the New Hampshire primary results even mean this whole presidential picking will still be in play when Vermont gets its turn March 4.

Secretary of State Deb Markowitz will hold a live chat tonight at 7:30 p.m. pn Vermont Public Television's Primary Tracker. She is supposed to talk about why it's important for Vermonters to vote in the primary.

For info on that, visit http://www3.vpt.org/vermontprimarytracker/chat.

"Vermont - Space cadet Kucinich's last chance."

In other words, tiny bubbles got bupkis.

Ya see a lot of Kucinich Postings on this board, bubbles?

How's Rudy and Romney doin' there, little fella?

Ya gonna tell me there's this huge ground swell of support for that slime?

Who's gettin more bang for their campaign spending buck, bubbles, the Space Cadet or the CEO?

Dazzle me, little dude.

I'm not at all surprised about the Clinton comeback.

You are talking about one of the most connected political bodies there are in the US.

Reality hits you in the face when you get in the booth and while another candidate might be more inline with what you want, you end up compromising on one with enough political clout to get elected.

Rudy and Romney might as well as head home. Republicans will not be able to get behind Rudy in a convincing manner. Romney is from Kerry country and is too slick. He'll have a hard time everywhere and has already pissed off independents and democrats.

I'll be surprised if it isn't Clinton vs McCain. (I'd also be surprised if this hasn't already been decided by the powers that be and that efforts to make this happen are not underway).

"You are talking about one of the most connected political bodies there are in the US."

And Romney is chopped liver?

"Reality hits you in the face when you get in the booth and while another candidate might be more inline with what you want, you end up compromising on one with enough political clout to get elected."

Well, given the fact that he's all but broke and was outspent by a considerable margin in Iowa and NH, one could possibly attribute that situation to Edwards, but Obama is certainly not hurting for cash, popular support, campaign organization or future fundraising possibilities. He and Clinton could go back and forth for the next month or so and beyond Super Tuesday.

"Rudy and Romney might as well as head home. Republicans will not be able to get behind Rudy in a convincing manner. Romney is from Kerry country and is too slick. He'll have a hard time everywhere and has already pissed off independents and democrats."

He's also pissed off McCain and the campaigns of all his gop competitors.

Romney and Thompson are supposed to be the candidates of the gop establishment. How come they're having such trouble convincing their Tennessee Taliban/Nuke First-Ask Questions Later base on these guys?

As for Romney, unless Bloomberg gets in the race, he's the richest guy in the field. His daddy was Governor of Michigan when Detroit ruled the automotive world. He ran for President. He was a wheel in gop circles back in the day.

By any objective measure, he's a smarter, more successful version of the nitwit we've got now who - while detested by Dems and Independents alike - is still popular in ignorant, illiterate, unwashed gop circles.

Why is Romney spending all that money and still having trouble converting the nitwits into mittwits?

Beyond that, much of Romney's appeal was supposed to stem from the fact that he'd been the Governor of a Northeastern State where gops have been buried alive in the blues.

Unless they give the vote to tumbleweeds in time for this November's election, it doesn't matter how much of the map of the US is covered with red, the people live in the blue parts and the gops can only ride the clueless cracker vote so far. Sooner or later one of their kids are gonna learn how to read and the South will fall again.

At the end of the day, any of the top 3 Dems offer something this We haven't seen in 7 years in the White House. Namely, competence and integrity.

They certainly stack up nicely against anyone the gops can offer. McCain is old, tired and blew his shot 8 years ago when he let bush and rove slime him in SC. Meeting with Falwell and Robertson and supporting Bush in Iraq while recognizing the need for Global Warming Actions doesn't help him with the gop establishment and kills him with the independents.

That leaves the gops with a probable choice of McCain and Huck Finished and the gop establishment hates both of 'em.

If the gop establishment and the gop electorate both hate their choices to one degree or another, how far do ya think Hillary-Hatred is gonna carry them?

"I'll be surprised if it isn't Clinton vs McCain. (I'd also be surprised if this hasn't already been decided by the powers that be and that efforts to make this happen are not underway)."

While you may well be right in your conclusions, just who are these powers that be that you allege to have decided this already and how will they manage to pull this trick off?

jw - "the South will fall again". Whistling in the dark, little fella? Realize you don't read anything heavier than comic books or watch anything other than MTV on television, but here's some bad news for ya- After the 2010 census, Texas, GA, FL, NC, SC, AZ, Utah, and Nev are expected to gain 13 additional seats in the US House! (Not to mention comparable electoral college gains) Gee, guess who LOSES those seats, loser! Ya guessed THAT right, little fella - Mass, NY, NJ, PA, Minn, OHIO, MICH, Iowa, California! Guess it's a good thing for us conservatives that monkeys like you stopped procreating years ago!

Class dismissed.
Tomorrow's project: explain what you mean by integrity as related to anyone named Clinton.
In advance - I thought not.

Population growth doesn't necessarily equate to Republican votes. Aren't you the one who complains constantly about the liberals who have moved here and "taken over Vermont?" What's to say that won't happen in those states also?

Nice try, little knuckle-draggin' nitwit fella.

Too bad you loons don't have evolution to bail ya out, tiny bubbles.

Clearly, you don't read at all, tb. If the flatlanders and transplants to those states come from NY, MA, PA, NJ, MI, MN, you gops are even more folked than ya are now, little fella.

Remember, you don't have toxic-tommy delay redistricting every 2 years to bail ya out any more. Your fox noise channel alternate reality is crumbling all around you as we speak, little fella.

Gee, that's a shame.

As for CA, Gop Congressman Jerry Lewis will have has hands full tryin' to keep from bunkin' with the dukestir. Even the French don't think he's funny any more.

"Tomorrow's project: explain what you mean by integrity as related to anyone named Clinton."

There's no need to wait til tommorrow, tb. Compared to anyone named bush, cheney, romney, giuliani, mccain or huckabee, it's a piece of cake.

"In advance - I thought not"

In advance, the fact that you don't think has never been in dispute, tiny bubbles. That's the one thing you've been able to establish beyond a shadow of doubt.

Dismissed.

Especially when they can read and think and want schools that ensure their kids will be able to do the same.

That said, don't confuse bubbles and the little fella with the facts. They're having a bad enough day already.

On the surface, the projections look troubling for Democrats, who fare particularly poorly in the South and have done well in the Northeast and Midwest.

But political demographers say many of the growth states such as Florida and Arizona are increasingly competitive for Democrats. That trend could spread because much of the population increases in the South and West are coming from newcomers from Democratic-leaning states and from minority groups, particularly Hispanics.

"Conventional wisdom might be that growth in the Sunbelt means growth for Republicans, but I don't think that's necessarily the case," said William Frey, a demographer at the University of Michigan and the Brookings Institution.

On, above and below the surface, gop's are on the ropes.

Like Red State Iowa who went twice for shrub, the total vote figures for the Dems dwarfed those of the gops.

Hillary's 39 percent was good for 112,251 and Obama's 36 percent was good for 104,772, while gop winner McCain couldn't crack 90 thousand votes and Romney could barely crack 75000 despite being the allegedly successful and popular former Governor of a neighboring State who tried to buy NH to prove how popular he was.

Gops are on the ropes. They've lost virtually all of the independents and the only people who can stand the sight of shrub are other gops. That's why he's gone from 28 percent to 33 percent. It's stand by the fuhrer time in gop land.

The 43rd reich is goin' the way of the 3rd. If bush and his loyal band of loons wants to drag the party down with them like they did when they canned rummy the day after the election, so much the better. I'll be happy to throw 'em an anchor any time.

So, tell me some more gop-slop fairy tales, tiny bubbles and little anonymous fella. Your psychosis never fails to make me smile.

Always a pleasure.

Flatlanders that infest Vermont are usually lazy trustfunders that contribute nothing to the well-being or growth of a state. Those that head south are usually ones escaping the above, looking for the good jobs that the former drove out of state. Probably not too many liberal voters in the latter. Am I going to fast for you, jw? Enough for today.

There's two more things for the list of things ya can't substantiate or prove in any way shape or form.

"Probably not too many liberal voters in the latter. Am I going to fast for you, jw? Enough for today.

Definitely one more for the list.

In other words, Bubba's got bupkis.

Dismissed.

In other words, you have nothing to say.

Nice try little man.

I am a Democrat but if Hillary is the candidate I will vote Republican.

Bill Clinton talking about "fairy tales" and other non truths - he had better be careful or the public will have to be reminded what a "clinton fairy tale" is.

And thank the lord I've got the little anonymous knuckle-draggin' nitwit likes of you to take time out of your busy day to always be here to tell that, too.

Go cheney yourself, punk.

Thanks for clearin' that up, little anonymous fella.

Go Hillary.

JW has ruled: if you don't like Hillary, you are not a Democrat.

"JW has ruled: if you don't like Hillary, you are not a Democrat."

No, if you don't vote for your Party's Nominee you're not a Democrat.

Either way, you're toast.

Always a pleasure.

So, Dems who voted for Jeffords in his last election instead of that freak Flanagan, aren't Dems?

Dems who voted for Bill Weld in 1990 instead of the fascist Democrat John Silber aren't real Dems?

Southerners who didn't vote for racist Dixiecrats weren't real Dems?

Your'e just an idiot.

Anonymous has left a new comment on the post "Vermont to decide this thing?":

"So, Dems who voted for Jeffords in his last election instead of that freak Flanagan, aren't Dems?"

No, they're Independents. I hate to confuse ya with the facts, little anonymous foolish fella, but Jeffords ran as a Gop, so anyone who voted for a Gop is, by definition, not a Dem.

Let me know if I'm going too fast for ya, LAFF.

In what was is Flanagan a freak and what is the factual basis of your allegation?

That's what I thought.

"Dems who voted for Bill Weld in 1990 instead of the fascist Democrat John Silber aren't real Dems?"

No, they're Independents.

Silber was a bad candidate and if memory serves, the MDP couldn't legally refuse him Ballot Access. If you have evidence of their active support for him feel free to cough it up at your convenience.

Southerners who didn't vote for racist Dixiecrats weren't real Dems?

Nice try.

No, but they are now.

Those Dixiecrats followed Strom, Jesse and Trent into the GOP and made it the haven for rich and poor white trash it is today.

"Your'e just an idiot."

Nice try. Given this predictably pathetic post of yours and the fact that ya can't even spell you're right, you've got that gig for life, laff.

The south is a "haven for the rich and poor white trash"? How about working Vermonters looking for good jobs, warm weather, and a low cost of living? DUH!

"The south is a "haven for the rich and poor white trash"? How about working Vermonters looking for good jobs, warm weather, and a low cost of living?"

Clearly, given the fact that you're still here, none of the attributes you've listed apply to you, tiny bubbles.

Once again, you prove that there's decent, hardworking, loyal Vermonters and Americans and then there's the ignorant, ill-informed, knuckle-draggin', neo-nazi nitwit likes of you and your nameless, spineless and witless little friend.

May all your dumb white trash dreams come true in Mississippi.

Dismissed.
