Getting the message

Senate President Pro Tempore Peter Shumlin, D-Windham, had a bit of advice for senators Tuesday morning as the new legislative session kicked off.

After outlining some of the work that he expected senators to start soon, Shumlin noted that many senators had spent some recent days in New Hampshire, campaigning for their favorite presidential candidates. Shumlin said he had been there working for Barack Obama. He said it was clear that candidates of all political persuasions seem to be talking a lot about change in response to what voters were telling them.

He suggested that voters' call for change in the presidential races is a message that shouldn't be lost on Vermont politicians.

"I don't think they will tolerate politics as usual," Shumlin said. "I throw that out as a cautionary note." In other words, Shumlin was warning against bipartisan bickering, not that much can take place in the Senate where Democrats hold 23 of the 30 seats. Perhaps he was sending a message to the Republican Douglas administration -- work with us.

Republican Lt. Gov. Brian Dubie, who presides over the Senate, said he agreed with Shumlin's advice, but added, "In many ways, the state of Vermont is an example of the way politics should be run."

--Nancy Remsen

Comments:
""In many ways, the state of Vermont is an example of the way politics should be run.""

What is that supposed to mean?

So Dubie thinks gridlock is an example of good government, eh? Explains why he's a Republican.

Gridlock=Shumlin+Symington.

"Gridlock=Shumlin+Symington."

It does, eh?

How so, anonymous little fella?

S&S can't even get their agenda thru with "veto proof" majorities. Seems like the bi partison gridlock is between Dems that will march lock step with S&S and Dems that won't !!

There is no such thing as "veto proof" majorities.

However, what is true is that there would be no gridlock without the veto.

Why not just cut the BS and outright slander Symington and Shumlin like you want to?

Shumlin is just an obnoxious, left-wing loon that caters to the Windham wackos and Symington is just a nice, totally incompetent lady that can't deal with the far-left kooks that seem to be multiplying in Vermont.

How's that?

"How's that?"

Actually, that's probably one of your better efforts in terms of quality and veracity of evidence and persuasiveness of argument.

Keep up the good work, little fella. Your great, great grand kids may learn to walk erect in spite of ya.

Always a pleasure.

What veto-proof majorities, little, ignorant, ill-informed, fundamentally-dishonest, anonymous fella?

Let's see the Senate has 23 D's and 7 g'S. Needed to sustain a veto 20 hmmmm that dosen't seem to tricky.

In the House 101 D's and P's, 49 G's. Neede to sustain a veto 100. This is a little trickier Spaceman but you should be able to figure it out. If not look up a third grade math book for help!!

Bye Bye "J"unior "W"ackjob

When was the Senate an issue, little anonymous fella?

That's what I thought.

"In the House 101 D's and P's, 49 G's. Neede to sustain a veto 100. This is a little trickier Spaceman but you should be able to figure it out. If not look up a third grade math book for help!!"

Well, little fella, if Ps were Ds they'd be Ds and wouldn't call themselves Ps, now would they?

Am I goin' too fast for ya? Do ya need me to go over that again?

Then there's the fact that if all Dems and Progs goose-stepped to the same tune like gops, we'd be gops and since we're not gops and we don't goose-step, that margin ain't always there. Especially when Doogie replaces Francis Brooks with a yes man like John Anderson who votes against the interests and the will of his own Montpelier constituents, little fella.

He's our own local Lieberman.

Do ya need me to go over that again for ya?

I'm gonna miss ya, little anonymous fella. You and bubbles have been like the personal pinatas and red headed step children I never had.

Hopefully you'll learn to read and think wherever you're goin'.

It's been fun.

Defeat Anderson in 2008! His B&B sucks too!

"Why not just cut the BS and outright slander Symington and Shumlin like you want to?"

Thanks for the invitation.

But it's not slander to say that they're anti-business demagogues who preside over a circus.

No, it's just horsebrit.

Always a pleasure.

Nope, it's true. If you don't like to hear it, tough.

"Nope, it's true. If you don't like to hear it, tough."

Let me try to explain something to ya, little anonymous fella.

Given the fact that you've yet to establish that they're "anti-business demagogues", you're assuming facts not in evidence.

Therefore, the burden is on you to prove that they are "anti-business demagogues."

While you clearly do things a bit differently in the Bizarro World, here in the Real World, one would go about the business of making such a case with evidence.

Once again, your ignorant, ill-informed, knuckle-draggin' nitwit word is not evidence. It's merely your ignorant, ill-informed, knuckle-draggin' nitwit word.

Therefore, ya may as well call them murderers and get your monopoly money's worth.

You're welcome.

Always happy to help the halt and the lame.

It's been fun.

When all of jw's bile has been spilled, when all of Hoffer's and the JFO's phoney reports have been decimated, when the dims/progs house of cards collapses, certain FACTS remain: Vermont is the highest taxed state in the country, and good jobs are leaving as fast as they can. There is no longer any taxes to raise, any more producers to fleece, and still the morons sit in Montpelier dreaming up new ways "to lead" the nation like homo marriage, global warming, communist takeover of health care, more pay for union teachers, etc. with no conceivable way to pay for any of them ! Take back Vermont!

"Therefore, the burden is on you to prove that they are "anti-business demagogues.""

The burden is on you to prove that there's "plenty" of evidence that JFK was planning to get us out of Vietnam before he was shot, little fella.

Nice of you to romanticize JFK, little fella, but he campaigned as an anti-communist, domino-theory, "missile-gap" hawk, and that's how he governed on foreign policy for the 2.5 years he was in office.

Dismissed.

Ah, so ya wanna spend the day strikin' out with the same nonsense from yesterday, eh?

Be my guest, shmendrik.

Get over yourself little anonymous fella. You can't come up with evidence to support bogus claims ya made when there were leaves on the flippin' trees. Green ones.

"Nice of you to romanticize JFK, little fella, but he campaigned as an anti-communist, domino-theory, "missile-gap" hawk, and that's how he governed on foreign policy for the 2.5 years he was in office."

I know all about the non-existent Missile-Gap he campaigned on. That's why Ike's Swan Song was "beware of the military-industrial complex."

You're not here talkin' your trash because JFK listened to the Curtis Lemays of the World during the Cuban Missile Crisis, we're here because he didn't.

Dismissed.

jw - the world awaits your previously unknown proof that JFK was going to end the Vietnam War before he was shot - and all you can do is try to change the subject!

Actually, we're waitin' for you and your little anonymous buddy to substantiate the likes of this slop of yours.

"Shumlin is just an obnoxious, left-wing loon that caters to the Windham wackos and Symington is just a nice, totally incompetent lady that can't deal with the far-left kooks that seem to be multiplying in Vermont."

Feel free to point out all the factual evidence in their, tb.

Dazzle me, little dude.

And then there's this dreck from your anonymous little buddy.

"S&S can't even get their agenda thru with "veto proof" majorities. Seems like the bi partison gridlock is between Dems that will march lock step with S&S and Dems that won't !!"

Really? Well, if they're veto proof, how do you explain Doogie's vetoes last summer, shmendrik?

Always a pleasure.

"There's also plenty of evidence demonstrating that he was gonna scale back US involvement in Vietnam if not pull the plug on it entirely before he got shot."

We're still waiting.

And if wishes and ignorant, ill-informed gop-slop were evidence you'd have a case but they're not and you don't.

Dismissed.

I'm sorry your Ma made ya pawn your only book you've been tryin' to teach yourself to read on as she tries to home-school your sorry, ignorant, ill-informed, knuckle-draggin' nitwit butt for gas money now that your klan has loaded up the truck to move to Mississippi - racist cesspools, whites-only bars - but perhaps somebody will be able to teach the difference between D's and P's.

Always a pleasure.

Dude, I'm the one who posted that Bubba's reaction was entirely predictable. But that was on a completely different thread -- ya know, the one about the right wing anti-Hillary movie? That ain't this thread. Would you please put your postings on the thread that they pertain to?

Done.

Sorry, dude. No sleep.

Was there anything else?

Please get a hobby.

"So is Polina a Dem or a Prog
If he is a Prog why would a "good" Dem be under any obligation to vote for him instead of a R?
Or are the D's and P's the same thing?

I've always been able to distinguish a D from a P, little fella. Evidently, that's not the case with you.

"Maybe the P's are the real leaders and the D's are their sheep!!"

Unlike you, little fella, I'll wager they can tell a P from a D, too.

"Time for the ridlin Junior"

Looks like it's always "ridlin" time for you, little fella. Ya might wanna ease up on that stuff. You're growin' more clueless by the minute.

You do know what a minute is, don't ya, little fella?

"There are 150 members of the legilature."

If you say so, little fella.

The Vermont Legislature, on the other hand, has 180 members.

The Vermont House of Representatives has 150 Members.

The Vermont Senate has 30 members.

"It takes 2/3 majority to override a veto."

Funny you should mention that, they have the same rule in the Vermont House of Representatives, too, little fella.

Isn't that ironic.

"Speaker Sympleton has 101 members of her party(ies)."

Still havin' problems with that whole distinguishing D from P thing, eh, little fella?

Symington is a Democrat. If you have evidence that she's also a Progressive, little fella, feel free to cough it up.

"Can she override the veto???"

Only if she gets enough Progs to go along with the Dems and come up with 100 votes.

What da ya think Junior???

Well, little anonymous Ass fella, I think you've made quite a case for yourself here today.

So far, you've managed to continue to establish beyond a shadow of a doubt that:

You don't know what day it is

You don't know what year it is .

You can't distinguish a D from a P

As is your custom, little fella, you continue to be long on bogus assertions and short on evidence.

When you grow tired of huffing and puffing and threatening to blow my house down, you go to your alleged change up and make with the:

"OK, maybe I don't have any evidence and I can't prove what I accused you of but you know what I mean and you know what I was trying to say and it was only a typo that I continued to stand behind for a day of two and it's all your fault I didn't catch it when I kept asking you to prove you didn't know what I meant when the truth of the matter is I don't even know what I mean because I don't know my ass from my elbow about anything I say but it's different when I ask you to prove that Symington is not a P as well as a D and I criticize Shumlin for his failure to overcome a veto even though there's no evidence that his conduct as leader of the Senate Majority has ever led to the Legislature being unable to override a Douglas veto, but it's all your fault because I made a typo because you made me so mad that I couldn't think straight and just because I don't know what the hell I'm talking about doesn't mean you have to be so mean to me and tell everybody that I don't know which end is up and maybe I don't have any evidence of that either and can't prove you did that other thing but you know what I mean."

Well, little fella, if by me allegedly "knowing what you mean" is scum speak for just because I can't even spell Legislature let alone distinguish the House from the Senate when you say:

"There are 150 members of the legilature."

or are unable to prove Symington has a P as will as a D after her name in addition to your inability to prove distinguish a D from a P and your propensity to fabricate quotes because you have nary a case or a clue, ya just might have a point.

If me "knowing what you mean" is coalition of the clueless code for you being an ignorant, ill-informed, fundamentally-dishonest nitwit who doesn't know what the folk you're talking about and have no evidence to support what you've accused me or Symington or Shumlin or Hoffer of, but you want me to cut you some slack because it's my fault for continually pointing out that you're a farcockteh meshuggah schmuck who can't make a damned thing you say stick, I see your point.

Congrats, you're streak's intact. You're still 0-everything.
