Howard's story

According to The Hollywood Reporter, George Clooney and Leonardo DiCaprio are talking about making a movie based on an upcoming Broadway play based on Howard Dean's 2004 roller-coaster presidential campaign.

Wow!

The play, Farragut North, is by Beau Willimon, who worked for Dean during his short-lived presidential run. According to Borys Kit of the Hollywood Reporter, the play "follows a young, idealistic communications director who works for an inspiring though unorthodox president candidate." The play opens next fall -- just before the presidential election.

The Hollywood Reporter says Clooney would direct and produce the movie adaptation while DiCaprio would star and produce. Star as who?

I can't wait to see that famous campaign-ending scream recreated.

Comments:
Howard Dean's "scream", to anyone with an ounce of objectivity, was merely an attempt to raise the spirits of a young group of volunteers who had wanted victory very badly and were very disappointed in the loss. What the media did with it is what is disgraceful.

Maybe they can get Howierd's sealed records open early to help with the script. Why would anyone want to watch this movie?

It'll take some artistic license to make that man look interesting.

There's already a Howard movie, its about a duck!!

Dean's old news, he had his day and blew it.

Time for some one else to take the reigns.

Yea, as DNC Chair, Dean lost seats in the House and Senate, and the organization is almost broke. The DNC is really in the crapper.

Hpward Dean's 50 state strategy work well. He was not afraid to stand up to the GOP and particular the GOP's right wing.

I agree - anyone who actually watched the entire media event with teh supposed "scream" can not realistically say they was something wrong. It was the disgusting use by the media of a 10 sec sound byte that did it.

NOW WHAT IS REALLY DISGUSTING - is watching Pres Bush with silly little smirk lie to US Citizens.

Dean's mistake: he forgot to offer the members of the media a beer.

Look where "the guy you'd love to have a beer with" has gotten us. If only he'd stayed at the bar.

Nancy repeats the misnomer "campaign-ending scream". The campaign ended before the scream, of course, done in months earlier by an unfortunate Montreal radio tape in which Gov. Dean correctly lambasted the Iowa caucus system. Unfortunately, when the R's got a hold of that, the good folks of Iowa weren't feeling so gracious about having the notion that they alone should determine a presidential nominee through an undemocratic process questioned; maybe the movie will get the facts straight and put the scream in it's true historical perspective. Dean was dead in NH with or w/out the scream because of his Iowa failure.

And we have the current struggle over which state is to have their say first. Why not pick a day where everyone makes their decision--it would be preferable to what we have now.

I think Danny DiVito would be a great choice to play HoHo

I like Howard and what he did as Gov. and is doing now at DNC.

But I am glad he is not president - he does not have the right temperment or personality.

He was really over his head when his campaign starting leading in the polls in December, and it showed. It should be a sad movie.

Pee Wee Herman would make the perfect Dean.

Dean was an excellent Governor. Kept the Dems in the Legislature in check.

Also kept the Reps in the Legislature in check.

That's what I said. Tye Dems were in the majority most of the time.

Tye Dems?? Never heard of them.

Tye Dem reps up
