802 rappers strike again

Montpelier's young rappers, who got a little buzz a couple months ago with their take of life in the 802 area code, are at again, this time on behalf of the the Legislature's energy bill and in conjunction with VPRIRG.

You can catch it HERE, as Colin Arisman, Luke Martin, and Kevin Hartmann take to the fields and lakes, rhythmically rapping about global warming, leaf season and hybrids.

"Let's start solving climate change in the 802," they opine. "1990 to 2000, 10 of the warmest years."

They also chant for a two-thirds vote, referring to what the House needs July 11 if it is to override the governor's veto of the bill, which of course is in the snowball's chance category of likelihood.

As we learned from their previous video, these kids have got a knack for this stuff, but I would pay money to hear Gov. Jim Douglas deliver a counteracting rap video. Something about Shumlin and Symington disregarding our taxes, them's is the factses?

Sorry, it's Friday afternoon.

Comments:
Yeah - the only problem is that Peter Shumlin wouldn't know a fact, let along factses.

How about a nice little bedtime story instead - Robin' in Shummyhood.

By the way - what ever happened to impeachment? How dead is that!

Vermont's great white hopes. They should drop this duo in the middle of South Central and let them rap their way out. Figures the whitebread crowd would latch on to these poseurs.

Vermont Politicians should have more fun and stop looking at themselves in the mirror!

I am so sick of hearing about this bill. The state really wants to do something to help the residents that need effiency is to go looking at those who are in the fuel assistance program. I worked for a fuel oil company and did night work at a snowmobile shop. I had 22 customers that were on fuel assistance program purchasing snowmobiles, violation of the program, and registering them under family members to avoid detection. They had the money, paid in CASH, to buy snowmobiles but not enough to buy heating oil???? It was reported to the state and the state did nothing! They also consumed the most fuel oil out of any of our customers, very effecient houses, not! Crack down on these violators and use the money to help fix the inefficent homes in the program, which cost the system $100's of thousands of dollars annually in waste.
The global warming issue is best left to the Fed's. Bernie's Bill will get more things done than a bill in Vermont that already comes in LAST PLACE in producing green house gases. We are just wasting our time and money to pass a law that will have .000001% effect on the warming issue. Not a real good R.O.I.

I totally agree (and I am not a Republican). Lets get to the real issues of taxes and education.

H.520 is a BAD bill. Yep, education, taxes, and health care. That ought to keep 'em busy. All this greenwashing has backfired.
(I am not a repug either...)

Wonder how Boy Barnett is liking the McCain camp these days?

Do you think Douglas is a McCain guy?

Some are saying that Symington is stepping down - is that right?

I would imagine Douglas is more of a Sam Brownback guy. They could give each other the secret nerd high sign, and compare notes on the proper trouser crease, or even sip fine French wine with their pinkies sticking outwards. Yeah, he's definately a Brownback guy.

Douglas would not be Governor of Vermont if he was a Brownback supporter. That simple.

When are we going to impeach Shumlin?

This comment is right on the mark.

The reason they use so much oil is that they pump the oil out of their tanks and give it to their family members in other houses.

No joke. I've seen it happen.

Assistance programs in Vermont have gotten out of control. There are too many abusers now.
