Another hat in the ring.
Steve Larrabee, former state representative from Danville, says he would like to become chairman of the Vermont Republican Party.
Dan Riley of Bennington also is a candidate for the job that has opened up because the current chairman, Rob Roper, isn't running again.
"Thsi is an exciting time for our party," Larrabee said. "There is a lot of grassroots excitement among Republicans and recognition by Vermonters of the need for more balance in the Legislature."
If elected, Larrabee said he wouldn't take a salary. He would want all the party's resources directed at helping candidates in the 2010 election, he said.
Larrabee is chairman of the Caledonia County Republican Committee and member of the Danville Selectboard. He owns Larrabee's Building Supply in Danville
The party will choose a new chairman in November.
