Swaying votes

The housing bill is on the House floor this afternoon. Just before debate started someone mentioned to me that the debate will influence the votes of a few people. Based on the monotone, passionless speeches on the floor, this is a little hard to believe. It seems more likely that the goal, for both sides, is to numb the opposition.

The bill is said to be headed for a close vote, but to pass. There are a few people with sore arms, but no one sporting an actual cast or sling.

Those in charge would have to really care.

Who are the candidates for state wide offices?

Are you talking about Helen Heads
No Neighborhoods bill
what an empty Head

Everyone love peas and honey.

The housing bill is just like that. Peas and honey.

Eat them with a knife. Eat them with your wife.

Same ol' legislature.

Yeah, freely-elected and solidly-Democratic.

Just like Vermont.

You mean the same Vermont led by a Republican Gov and Lt Gov and with a legislature that can't override any of Douglas' vetoes?

And for this you are proud to be a Democrat? Wow.

Oh yeah and the same Democratic party that can't field a candidate for Gov because they are afraid they will lose to Douglas.

The same party that wants to endorse Pollina but can't find the spine to do so.

You SHOULD be proud of your party.

Yet.

"And for this you are proud to be a Democrat? Wow."

Yeah.

Let's review the facts, little deduce bag fella.

You've got Gov. and Lite Gov.

We have Leahy and Welch and Sanders caucuses with the Dems.

We've got both Chambers of the Vermont Legislature.

Town Meeting didn't exactly go your way and trends ain't goin' your way lookin' towards November.

So, all things considered, yeah, I like our chances better than yours, little factually-challenged fella.

Jim Greenwood the former GOP senator is seiously considering a run for the Oeleans Essex senate seat.

He would face Starr and Illuzzi and odds are pretty good he would beat one of them.

Gee, that's swell.

"He would face Starr and Illuzzi and odds are pretty good he would beat one of them."

Yeah, and Duke and UConn are gonna play for the NCAA College Basketball Championship.

Really? And you're basing this on.....? What? Did some little nameless-nitwit birdie tip ya off?

I hate to confuse ya with the facts, little fella, but in the unlikely event he beats Illuzzi, he replaces another gop.

In the unlikely event he beats Starr, it will reduce the Democratic Senate Majority from 23-7 to 22-8.

Do the math, little fella.

Who else is running in the state?
