Dialing for votes

My phone rang a few minutes ago. Madeleine Kunin voice was on the other end. For a second or two I thought it really was Madeleine Kunin. That's the way things are here in Vermont. The phone rings and sometimes it's the governor or a former governor, a senator or a former senator.

Alas, though, it was Kunin's taped voice, a robo-call, urging me to vote for Hillary Clinton in the March 4 primary.

After she made her pitch for Clinton, Kunin suggested I press 1 if I was planning to join her in voting for Clinton, or 2 if I was still undecided. There was no option 3 or 4.

I presume if I had pressed 1, I'd be sent off to the sign-her-up-for-campaigning desk. If I had pressed 2, I'd have been sent to the needs-further-educating desk, but it felt a little like that Seinfeld episode in which Kramer runs Movie Phone. After urging people to push 1 for this movie, 2 for that, he says in exasperation, "Why don't you just tell me what movie you want to see?"

I was waiting for Kunin's voice to ask, "Why don't you just tell me who you're voting for?"

I got the same call and noticed it originated from a Virginia number! Haven't they heard of Vonage???

Could have been worse. You could have received one of those pathetic calls from Shumlin, stumping for Obama. I feel bad for Obama.

Could have been worse. We could have had to listen to the robo-candidate (Ms. Clinton)for the next four years.

I got a call from Bob Dole last night asking me to vote for McCain.

I thought I got a robo-call from Jim Douglas, but it actually was Jim Douglas. I knew he was robotic but this sealed the deal.

"I got a call from Bob Dole last night asking me to vote for McCain."

Good for you, little fella. They're in position to make personal calls to voters.

Dole and McCain have a lot in common and they're about to share another common bond.

Perhaps, McCain could convince Dole to run as his VP to sure up the Youth Vote.

They can call it the Viva Viagra Ticket and dredge up Jerry Garcia to reform "Old and in the Way" as their official campaign band.

Corporate sponsorship would certainly fix McCain's campaign money woes.

Ah yes, Dole and McCain - two war heroes reviled by Rambojw.

hey, as someone that has criticized JW's posts before, I have to say that last one was actually kinda funny - complete with the Jerry Garcia reference - and he did not take any personal digs at any other posters.

So lighten up, Bubba!

You can call Madeline back and let her know how you feel. She's in the book.

Who cares if Davis enacted 250? Who cares what party he belonged to, moron? Vermont has had it's fill of "RINO" Republicans over the years. I suppose because FDR interned the Japs during WWII all dimocrats should want to see this practice continue! Get a brain, idiot, if a policy doesn't work, GET RID OF IT.

People, get with it, give up those land lines and you won't get those calls - I don't.

You get with it.

Not everyone lives in a place that gets cell reception.

I know this is futile, but I am actually going to try to explain something to jw:

You assume that I am a Republican; therefore, in what passes for your mind, I must agree with everything ever done by Republicans, i.e. Dean Davis. You assume this because you are nothing more than a far-left droid, and anything that is done by a leftist zombie MUST be defended at all cost!

My advice to you: get out of your Al Franken pj's, leave your furnished room, and start associating with normal people, not just your psychopathic "friends" on late-night internet.

Have a nice day, little fella.

At last night's debate in Ohio:
Obama was asked about the endorsement of Louis Farrakhan. He answered that he denounced it. Clinton said he should have rejected it.
renounce=word, reject=action
The head of Obama's church is a staunch supporter of Farrakhan. This would have been an excellent opportunity for Obama to follow through on "his words". He should find another church.

Wow, wait until the resident psychopath reads the 10:56 blog! You are correct, of course, but remember Obama is all "words" and nothing more at this point. Hey, if he can keep babbling about "hope" and "change", I guess he doesn't need to explain where all of the money is going to come from for his "Heaven on earth"!

Yeah, and McCain was right the first time when he declared Falwell and Robertson to be agents of intolerance. Too bad he caved to them and the rest of the Tennessee Taliban swine that run the GOP Bigot Brigade.

As for the head of Obama's Church allegedly being a staunch supporter of Farrakhan, do you have any evidence to substantiate your claim or are we just supposed to take your swift-boat slimeball word for it?

You're gonna have to come up with somethin' better than fixed noise talking points.

I don't think even Dr. Doolittle could talk to jw.

Bubba, you'd have a better chance of getting reasoned, non-insulting posts out of jw if you did not engage in name-calling yourself. Your posting of 6:47 a.m. today uses the words "moron" and "idiot." Stop it. Don't do it just because he does it.

"are we just supposed to take your swift-boat slimeball word for it?"

Exactly what basis do you have for calling the 10:56 a.m. poster Renee a "swift-boat slimeball" merely for making the statement that the head of Obama's church is a staunch supporter of Farrakhan? Maybe the statement is correct, maybe it's mistaken. That doesn't lead to the conclusion that his/her reporting of it is because he/she is a "swift-boat slimeball."

In fact, I believe I heard this myself on NPR last weekend or the weekend before. Does that make NPR a "swift-boat slimeball?"

You jump to unsupported conclusions based on your own biased perceptions.

Ya are, eh? Not until ya sort out the difference between futile and feeble, little fella. The latter's got your picture next to the Webster's entry.

You assume that I am a Republican; therefore, in what passes for your mind, I must agree with everything ever done by Republicans, i.e. Dean Davis.

Not at all, litle bigot boy.

I just let ya convince me you're ignorant, ill-informed, white-supremacist, neo-nazi nitwit trash, little fella. There's no need for assumptions. You're a very convincing cretin, little fella.

"You assume this because you are nothing more than a far-left droid, and anything that is done by a leftist zombie MUST be defended at all cost!"

Nah. There's no need for assumptions in your case. I just toss ya the dumb white-supremacist trash nitwit ball and let ya run with it, little factually-challenged fella. You're pretty slick in the open field, little fundamentally-dishonest fella. If ya could only stop runnin' in the wrong direction, ya wouldn't be such a clueless cretin.

Then again, ya wouldn't be so entertaining, either.

My advice to you: get out of your Al Franken pj's, leave your furnished room, and start associating with normal people, not just your psychopathic "friends" on late-night internet.

What! And miss your song and dance, routine. I couldn't do that, bubbles. Not until the weather breaks and I can chuck these crutches, anyhow.

Have a nice day, little fella.

Nameless nitwit, just knowing you care is reason enough to stay and school your sorry, brain-dead butt.

Nameless nitwit, stuff a sock in it.

First of all, check the 10/07 archives. Check anything that predates that. What do you see? What don't you see?

That's what I thought.

Secondly, little bigot boy is white-supremacist slime. He doesn't merit anything but my complete and utter contempt. If you can't comprehend that, than neither do you.

Capice?
