Surge protector

Interesting little exchange Monday when, at the very end of a press conference at Sen. Bernie Sanders' offices in Burlington, yours truly asked if the senator and Adjutant General Michael Dubie thought the "surge" was working in Iraq.

"I think it is," responded Dubie quickly, saying that his estimation, the president's decision to temporarily increase troop strength in Iraq has worked to move Iraq toward a more stable situation.

Sanders, who had invited Dubie and Vermont National Guard chaplain Jim McIntyre in to discuss the $3M grant he'd help get to treat returning combat soldiers suffering from the mental wounds of war, begged to disagree.

Sanders acknowledged that the rate of casualties in the war zone was down, and so was the number of violent incidents. But then he said that if the goal of the surge was to bring political stability to Iraq that "does not seem to be happening."

He went on to note that the situation in Afghanistan is not good and expressed worries about Pakistan. Of course, neither of those places were part of the surge mission. Sanders said he remains a staunch opponent of the war and wants to see the troops come home as soon as possible.

So is the surge working or not? Your turn.

-- Sam Hemingway

PS: Dubie also said a major deployment of Vermont National Guard soldiers back to Iraq is inevitable, although he said later it wouldn't be in 2008.

Comments:
The liberals worst fear - victory for our side! The better things get, the more determined the Sanders-Leahy surrender monkeys are to undermine our troops. After all, they are nothing more than treasonous lap-dogs for moveon.org, and the rest of the far-left America-bashers. How much money do you think those two, along with Welch, get from those determined to see us lose and the terrorists win? By the way, is there another state that has not had a single representative go to anywhere in the mid-east to "see for themselves" what's going on? Jeez, even Bill O'Reilly has just returned form Afghanistan!

Dubie must be smoking a lot of high-test doobie if he thinks we're winning in Iraq. As for Bubba's Limbaugh musings, please consider the source.

Oh yea, we are winning in Iraq!!

Political stability is just around the corner!!

The Iraqi people have electricity once every few days. They sometimes have running water.

The Iraqi people are rigourously engaged in the process of the civil war!

Turkey is even interested in coming into Iraq and helping solve the Kurdish problem!

This is the best $5 Trillion that the US government has ever spent!!

All great news!

Bubba must be smoking dope - again!

The reason for the surge is now starting to change to fit the situation. Just like the reasons to go to war with Iraq!

How many times has the U.S. been attacked since 9/11? (Brought about in no small part by the cowardice of the Clinton administration in doing NOTHING about the US Cole attack, the FIRST Trade Center attack, letting our troops be killed and dragged thru the streets in Africa, ignoring the attacks on out embassies around the world, and on and on) I have never heard a pansy liberal EVER come up with a solution to world terrorism except give the terrorists whatever they want and maybe they'll like us!

GW Bush has made us SO SAFE!! (even though we lost more lives in Iraq than in the twin towers, and despite the anthrax attacks, the attack of our Kenyan embassy, the attack on our allies in the London tubes, the bombings of our allies in Spain – and even though Homeland Security Chief Chertoff says that we are very vulnerable to another attack … ) we are completely safe in this country, thanks to Bush and Cheney!!

THINK of all of the ways that we are safer now.

Airport security makes us take our shoes off !!!!

Our borders are air tight !!!! There is no way for a terrorist to cross the US/Mexico border.

Our port security is tops !!!! There is no way for a terrorist to smuggle WMD's into our country on a container ship ... even though we don't check for that sort of thing ...

Yes sir. We are so safe now that nobody could ever touch us again.

Thanks Mr President !!!!

"I have never heard a pansy liberal EVER come up with a solution to world terrorism except give the terrorists whatever they want and maybe they'll like us!"

Wait a second Blubba. Wasn't this GW's approach to Pakistan? Get in bed with Musharaff, who in turn plays GW like a fiddle, then spits in his face? I also think GW has done more to place a giant target on Americans then any liberal has.

Sorry, there's no such thing as victory. With the numbers of dead and the destruction we've wrought this war was lost a long time ago. But just keep saying that we won. Maybe it will make it so.

How can you say that ???

Don't you remember the election that Iraq had ???

That's freedom, baby!!

Has there ever been a society with more of its members actively cheering for defeat in a time of war? A society so willing to propagandize in favor of its own defeat?!

Here's a few reasons Bubba loves him some Bush:

1) highest deficits ever
2) lowest dollar value in a long time
3) more hatred towards America than ever
4) largest government ever
5) largest trade imbalance ever
6) worse restrictions ever on personal freedoms and rights
7) greatest gap ever between the upper class and the middle class
8) worse lies ever to initiate a war
9)worst housing collapse in recent memory
10) more people without health care than ever before

You can fool some of the people some of the time, but you can always fool Bubba and his GOP legions.

Has there ever been a president who has screwed up so badly? Let's review some of the major errors that have been conceded by former administration officials and Bush loyalists:

-not sending enough troops to secure the country to begin with (as the generals requested)

-The failed "De-Bathification" program

-disbanding the Iraqi army

-the willful neglect of the basic infrastructure (government ministries, water, dams, roads, electricity)

-the Abu Ghraib scandal,

-sending billions of dollars in cash on pallets to the war front (and "misplacing" every last dollar)

-giving arms to the militias who are killing our soldiers

-failing to properly armor the US troops in the field

-no plan for keeping Iran out

-no plan for keeping Turkey out

-no plan for preventing the spread of this war to neighboring countries

The person responsible for the failures in Iraq is the Commander-In-Chief.

You can't blame this debacle on the people who come to the obvious conclusion that Bush has done a terrible job of commanding this war.

Mission Accomplished!!

Not everything has been 100% successful, obviously. When you think of the disasters in WWII that costs us more troops in a single battle than all of our current war on terrorism, and realize that the entire country back then wanted us to win, think what we could be doing if the left in this country weren't giving daily aid and comfort to the enemy! Roosevelt and Warren locked up innocent American-born Japanese back then, and Truman ended the war with a thank-you present for the Japs, but today, if the food isn't cooked right at Guantanamo, all the sleazy ACLU lawyers can't wait to hop the first bus south to stick another knife into the back of our troops.

Now this:

Thousands of wounded soldiers who served in Iraq are being asked to return part of their enlistment bonuses -- because their injuries prevented them from completing their tours !!!!

Most of the world was with us during WWII Bubs (or better, we were with them). It is entirely different. Comparing apples to oranges. Our "allies" are few and far between in Iraq. Many have left and gone home already. You can live life through your Sgt. Rock comics all you want, but this war is a disaster, and I think you know it. I support the troops, probably equally as much as you, but I see a clusterf*%k and call it one.

Personally, I think Saudi Arabia and Pakistan are far more scary then Iraq ever could have been.

bubba said...
"Not everything has been 100% successful, obviously."

Gee, you're really goin' out on a limb there, bubba.

This just in - Some Pentagon slime-ball sent some disabled Vet in PA a bill for a pro-rated portion of his enlistment bonus because the IED that left him partially-blind with spinal chord injuries rendered him unfit for duty and unable to fulfill the term of his enlistment and now that King George has exploited him for a photo op after unnecessarily and unjustifiably maiming him for life, he wants the guy's money back so he can give it to Halliburton or the scum at Blackwater.

Don't that just warm the cockles of your red, white and blue Un- American Heart.

I hate to confuse ya with the facts, bubbles, but Afghanistan ain't Iraq, Saddam's dead, he had nothing to do with 9/11, there's no wmd, the surge ain't workin' any better than your gop-slop nonsense and billo is no more a legitimate journalist or a loyal, patriotic American than the decidedly, unpatriotic, Un-American likes of you are. Clearly, so I'm sure the two of you will be very happy together.

Building 18 showed everyone with a brain how little the nitwit in chief and the late, unlamented, gop-slop spewin', criminally-incompetent, rubber-stamp Congress care about the Troops.

Beyond their photo-op and IED fodder value, Bush and his supporters couldn't care less about the Troops which explains why the ignorant, ill-informed and unpatriotic likes of you still support him and don't give a damn about them, their families or this Country.

That said, in the highly-probable event that I'm going too fast for ya, I'll tell ya again.

Based on what we know. Based on what we know the incompetent, illegitimate, Un-American trash currently squatting in the White House, the late, unlamented, gop-mismanaged, rubber-stamp Congress have been doing their best to keep us from finding out, anyone, anywhere who still supports the madness of King George, the War in Iraq, his conduct of that War, his plunging this Country into ruinous debt or any other aspect of his criminally-incompetent reign of error is no more patriotic than the remaining supporters of Hitler on the evening of 11/20/44 were patriotic Germans.

In the still highly-likely event that the previous passage was a bit too complex for you to grasp, I'll break it down for ya.

Pro-Hitler = Anti-German.

Pro-Bush = Anti-American.

If that's still too tough for ya, assuming they can grasp my meaning, get one of your anonymous, coalition of the clueless compatriots can figure it out for ya.

Now take your bogus WW2 Analogies and go cheney yourself

Dismissed.

I just wanna know when we'll be shipping Shumlin over to Iraq.

The day the bush twins finish their first tour disarming IEDs for Daddy.

As usual, a lot of silly ranting from the left, particularly girly-man jwpoop, but of course still no reasonable solutions offered for dealing with terrorists. Sit around the campfire with them singing kumbiya?

It is always interesting the compassion these knuckle heads have for the oppressed terrorist....the same guys that have public hangings of gays, stonings of adulterers, and advocate beating their women to make them submit. Real nice guys...the same guys that would like to bring their rule to the rest of the world....the same ones who have publicly stated their desire to destroy Israel. Nice guys, one and all.

Here's a thought for you jw, go live there for a while now that you have crawled out from under your rock. Spend some time in Europe and Asia hearing what the populus really says (not the media's talking points..understand their motivation is purely ratings), then have an opinion.

Here's another thought for you, if the terrorists were really interested in lasting peace and seeing us go home, they might just stop the roadside bombings, stop the suicide bombers in public markets and stop the other random attacks in Muslim innocents. Call GW's bluff. Don't engage in further attacks and then Bush would have no option but to go home.

Peace and non-violence could easily settle this but that is not what the terrorists really want. They want to continue with their life of murder, mayhem and fear.

"as usual, a lot of silly ranting from the left, particularly girly-man jwpoop, but of course still no reasonable solutions offered for dealing with terrorists. Sit around the campfire with them singing kumbiya?"

Followed, as usual, yet another evidence-free, factually-challenged, utterly-psychotic, coalition of the clueless, dime-store-patriot post that does nothing to address or counter the issue before him.

Nice try, bubbles.

Always a pleasure

"Dismissed."

You social retard.

George W Bush will go down in history as the WORST US PRESIDENT EVER - EVER!!!!

Bubba will go down in history as the MOST NAIVE AND GULLIBLE HUMAN BEING EVER - EVER!!!!

"the same guys that have public hangings of gays, stonings of adulterers, and advocate beating their women to make them submit."

There are terrible people all over the world ... (like, Pakistan for example). But we don't invade every country that is run by evil dictators.

"same ones who have publicly stated their desire to destroy Israel."

Like Saudi Arabia?? Yes. They've promised to push Israel into the sea too. Why does GW Bush love them so much??

"Peace and non-violence could easily settle this ..."

So you favor non-violence, but your advocating for war ... ??

He's sure to finish in the money.

The jury's still out on the human being thing.

Well, little buddy, if what you say is true, how come they can't convict them of anything after 5 years in gitmo with little or no access to legal representation and a minimal evidentiary standard to meet to file charges?

That's what I thought.

Moreover, in addition to seeing no more evidence that Bush has made the world safer in any way shape or form than I see of him making the dollar stronger or the price of oil cheaper, I see ample evidence of shrub and his Tennessee Taliban supporters trying to steal al qaeda's act and employ those standards here.

"Here's a thought for you jw, go live there for a while now that you have crawled out from under your rock. Spend some time in Europe and Asia hearing what the populus really says (not the media's talking points..understand their motivation is purely ratings), then have an opinion."

Again, if all that's true, where's the wmd and the Saddam 9/11 links?

Nice try.

When Baghdad officially becomes a suburb of Baltimore, you'll have a point. Until then, no sale.

Moreover, if the surge is working and violence in Iraq is down to the point where the shrub-shills are bragging about a mere 33 attacks in Baghdad on one particular day, given the fact that the surge is not only working but the insurgency is in its last throes, we're being greeted as liberators, sectarian differences are falling by the wayside and a pandemic of peace, love, freedom and democracy is breaking out all over the place leaving Bush no option but to bring the troops home then why aren't the Troops on their way home?

That's what I thought.

Ya might wanna look up the word "thought" in the dictionary, sport? As with most things, you seem to be unclear as to its meaning.

You're welcome.

Late Breaking Rumor from a "Reliable Source"

Jim Greenwood the well liked and respected former Senator from Orleans Essex County is planning on making a return to the Senate.
That would create a three way race between incumbants Bobby Starr and Vince Illuzzi and a popular ex Senator, Jim Greenwood.

Any body want to handicap that one??

And yet STILL no answers to "What do you want to do to fight terrorism?" from the jwpoop asylum.

"So you favor non-violence, but your advocating for war ... ??"

That's not even close to what I said...and I think you know that. It just makes your reply so much more dramatic.

I said the terrorist bloc has an equal oppoertunity to stop the conflict if they wanted to by choosing peace and a stop to the hostilities. Clearly they don't want that option either. If you want to truly stand up for a peace alternative be fair in holding both sides accountable....unless of course you support the terrorists initiatives. then take sides.

Nah, I'm content to leave that to the voters of Essex/Orleans County where it belongs.

Well, forever blowin' me bubbles, I've yet to see a question or proposal from the likes of you and your coalition of the clueless compatriots that would - unlike the nitwit in chief's current strategy and/or track record - be effective, Constitutional, consistent with US Historical principles and practices or merits a response in any way shape or form and while that doesn't exactly make the likes of you and your knuckle-draggin' drivel unique, nevertheless, it doesn't change the fact that - at the end of the day - you've got bupkis, bubbles. The nuke 'em first-ask questions later, bomb 'em back to the stone age, coalition of the clueless likes of you rarely if ever do.

All you propose is the same thoroughly-discredited, why quit when you're losin', neanderthal-nitwit nonsense that hasn't been working for the better part of 7 years now which only continues to appear more fraudulent, foolish - to say nothing of - unpatriotic, UnAmerican, criminally-negligent, ineffective and downright dumber by the day.

Then again, when you've got nothing to offer but fear itself, that's bound to happen.

After all, as the many historical retrospectives marking the 45th Anniversary of the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis last month continually and invariably made abundantly clear, we're here, able to have this conversation in spite of the lunatic-fringe likes of you.

You can show yourself out.

If you say so, little fella. I haven't had the time or the inclination to tally up the number of posts by my or anyone else the way you evidently have so I'll take your word on the count.

Who knows? You may just have stumbled upon your niche in life, little buddy, and if I've played any role - large or small - in helping you find your calling in life, I'm happy to have lent a hand.

I'm always happy to help the different-reality-abled.

I don't think it's B&J's.

I think it's handing cigs across the counter at the Champlain Farms at the corner of Main and Winooski. He wouldn't last behind the B&J counter.

Poor guy. Sees all the UVM kids buying gas, cigs, and beer, while he had to drop out of Burlington Community College when the schizophrenia kicked in.

Gee, I thought we did. Wasn't that what that whole Mission Accomplished, phony fly-boy action figure thing was all about, sport?

Bush and the rubber-stamps ran everything before the indies came to their senses last year. What stopped 'em from implementing a winning strategy?

If we were only there to topple Saddam and liberate them, why are we still there? That statue came down the better part of 5 years ago. They don't seem so fond of us anymore. Why do ya think that is?

The "Welcome to Baghdad. Now Go Home." bumper stickers should have been your first clue. They're not interested in being colonized or occupied. They'd seen that movie once or twice already.

Look up World History and Civilization. You'll see the names Tigris and Euphrates and the term "fertile crescent" figure prominently in the first chapter.

With the exception of a few blips here and there, things have gone from bad to worse in Iraq on a regular basis.

Why do ya think that is?

Before you carve your bird try cuttin' the crap.

Come up with some answers and we'll talk. Keep spewin' bogus fox noise channel talking points from the 2002 desk of Dick Cheney and you'll keep gettin' what you're gettin'.

We're not in Iraq to liberate them any more than the Pilgrims landed on Plymouth Rock to liberate the Indians, sport.

Have a pleasant day.

None of the statements you make -- which are good and true arguments against: a) the invasion of Iraq in the first place, and b) the OCCUPATION of Iraq after the initial invasion -- refute the fact that we WERE initially greeted as liberators. "Sport."

I agree with you that the invasion of Iraq was a dumb idea from the beginning and has turned into a fiasco. But don't be so partisan that you can't even agree that the sun comes up in the morning.

We were greeted as liberators, even if that was not the point of the invasion.

Now that we've agreed that the sun came up this morning, we can move on and discuss whether it's actually a nice day.

Who was President on 3/17/88 when he was up to his sorry butt in Iran-Contra.

That's what I thought.

Get yourself some facts and we'll talk. You're gonna have to do better than tellin' me about the one room in a 10-room house that came through the fire unscathed. Broken clock moments ain't gonna cut it.

jwcoop10,

I understand you.

You are neo-universal reality enabled. You show clarity unlike Stevie Wonder offering pleasure to the bupkis-deprived creatively-challenged anonymous posters. I look forward to having a cool "handle" to post under.

Little fellas throughout Vermont look to you as the uber-guru of facts and stats applauding you for having found the obscure conspiracies that have truly haunted us.

It is, eh? Sure it is. Clearly, it's got al qaeda in the last throes of their insurgency. Honest. All 6 percent of them.

I'm sure they'll be distant memoried toast long before the '04 elections.

If we were there to conquer, capture, subdue and occupy Iraq to prevent it from being overrun by Iraqis, you might have a point, but we're not so ya don't.

Then again, your boy could always capture the number three man in al qaeda another 47 times, sport. Like they did in '03 and '04. That certainly was effective.

And which liberal networks would those be, sport?

They've all been shilling the same " I really think we've turned the corner this time. We'll know in 6 months." slop for the better part of 6 years.

How's that going so far?

That's what I thought.

What a putz.

Iran didn't cause any trouble for the better part of 3 years. They were perfectly happy to let us overthrow, capture and kill Saddam for them just like the warlords and sheiks in Anbar are happy to let us kill al qaeda for them now.

"It leaves our esteemed reps that have done everything they could to ensure a defeat in an interesting position from my POV."

Well, from my reality-based community POV, not so much.

Just how did "our esteemed reps" cause Bush and the rubber-stamps to keep Rummy and pursue the same failed, brain-dead strategy for the first 5 years in Afghanistan and the better part of the first 4 when they were in the Minority less than a year ago, sport?

Was it the same trick they used at Abu Ghraib and Gitmo and to subdue Baghdad or did they have something else up their sleeves?

Our ability to conquer capture and occupy significant portions of Iraq has never been at issue, sport. The only question was the number of troops, funding and time it would take.

As Rummy said, "it could last a week, a month, I doubt 6 months...."

How's that workin' out for you loons?

"Political stability will come."

It will, eh? Sure thing, sport. Just as soon as we take Baghdad, find the wmd and yada, yada, yada....

How's that been workin' out for ya.

OK, OK. We'll give you until the January '05 elections. Yeah, I'm sure that'll do the trick.

Fine, we'll give ya 'til after the 12/05 elections. Yeah, yeah. I'm sure that'll be the ticket.

We've been hearing that same gop-slop nonsense for 4.5 years.

"Pelosi, Reid, Bernie and Leahy all have been pretty quiet."

Yeah, they've been too quiet for my tastes, too. Still, the failure after failure after record oil prices after shaky markets after "The Democrats kept us from doing anything about Illegal Immigration for the 12 years we controlled Congress and the 6 years we controlled everything despite the fact that they were in the minority and Hastert wouldn't even let a bill come to the floor unless there was enough GOP votes to pass it." nonsense, but, hey, you've never let the facts slow ya down before, sport.

The media doesn't have a liberal bias, shmendrik. Reality does.

Always a pleasure.

Stupid-ass, repetitious interjections like "sport," "kiddo," and "always a pleasure" just make you sound dumb. Too bad your personality doesn't let you resistengaging in this.

Actually, Kiddo, it's the invariably long-on-lunacy, short-on-substance quality of your posts leaving me nothing of legitimate substance to respond to and continue to merit the ants-under-a-magnifying-glass-at-a-late-June-picnic-on-a-hot-sunny-summer's-day treatment they consistently get, but, hey, what are ya gonna do? Who could stay mad at you?

Always a pleasure.

The Democratic Party is a mediocre, occasionally effective political party in the throes of revitalizing and restructuring itself on the Local, State and National Level.

The GOP, on the other hand, is an organized criminal enterprise - and not a very good one at that - run buy and for the benefit of an uneasy and unholy alliance of ignorant bigots and investment bankers with a long tradition of corruption and cluelessness on foreign, domestic, economic and environmental corruption with a history of hostility to civil rights and consumer protection that has continually demonstrated its invariably corrupt, complete and utter incompetence on a host of matters such as National Defense, Economic Policy which has left the Country with an intractable, unnecessary and unjustifiable war in Iraq, a profound loss of respect around the world with it's allies, a huge budget deficit, massively indebted to China with a crumbling currency, approaching stagflation, a gathering mortgage crisis and a sagging real estate market experts continue to hope will merely continue to stumble and decline instead of plunge and collapse with much of its leadership under investigation, indicted, convicted, and incarcerated or in possible if not probable legal jeopardy to one degree or another.

Big difference.

All things considered, I'd rather be a Democrat.

Always a pleasure.

jwcoop10, I am a lifelong Democrat and was probably voting before you were born. I don't want your rude, nasty ass in my party.

Gee, that's a shame, sport.

I'll tell ya how much sleep that's costin' me just as soon as I'm done with my nap.

Always a pleasure.

That last one was just hilarious. So worth the time you spent to write it.

"No one consistently makes the case for increasing the Democratic Majority quite like you."

Actually, no one consistently makes the case for keeping the Governor's Office in moderate hands better than Gaye and Peter.

You can show yourself out.

I'd love to have a moderate governor. It sure would be an improvement over the clown that's in there now.

There are no moderates in the Vermont Democratic Party.

There used to be: Howard Dean as Governor.

Anonymous has left a new comment on the post "Surge protector":

"There are no moderates in the Vermont Democratic Party."

A statement which proves there are no brains in the gop.

Ya know, sport. You can start tryin' any time now.

Always a pleasure.

Save your breath, pal. The clueless clown posse continue to take their cues from fox news nitwits like horsebrit hume and billy kristol who think the 100 Years War was too short, that the Brits cut and ran and anyone to the left of Jimmy Douglas - including, irrespective of the facts, Howard Dean - is a tree-huggin', surrender-monkey commie totally opposed to and hellbent on the destruction of free enterprise.

You know, Mitt-wits.

Still hate FOX and Bill O'Reilly because they go after the perverts, "coopy"? The only reason you hate them is because they are not part of the leftist fruits and nuts elitists and are the only major network to stand up for middle America. That's why the dimocrat pansies refused to debate on FOX - might actually get asked a serious question instead of MSNBC-type questions like "what is your favorite colored pantsuit?".

Sure thing, shmendrik.

"The only reason you hate them is because they are not part of the leftist fruits and nuts elitists and are the only major network to stand up for middle America."

Let me explain something to ya, bubbles. It's like this. When they speak for 20-30 percent of you shrub-shills, then, by definintion, they don't speak for Middle America.

Middle Amerika, maybe.

Middle America. NFW.

"That's why the dimocrat pansies refused to debate on FOX - might actually get asked a serious question instead of MSNBC-type questions like "what is your favorite colored pantsuit?".

Actually, What color is your pantsuit would be a new high-water mark for horsebrit hume.

The don't debate on fixed noise for the same reason they don't blow budget surpluses, plunge the Country into ruinous debt to China or start wars for no good reason because - unlike gops - they know better.

Fox is not a news channel. It's a gop house propaganda organ.

Big difference.

Of course, if you wanna continue making a schmuck outta yourself at every opportunity and try telling me how the Anonymous Clan had settled Vermont long before the Abenaki, Allen Boys or Sammy De Champlain, be my guest.

". . . anyone to the left of Jimmy Douglas - including, irrespective of the facts, Howard Dean - is a tree-huggin', surrender-monkey commie totally opposed to and hellbent on the destruction of free enterprise."

Give us specific examples of policy differences between Gov. Dean and Gov. Douglas.

And don't say civil unions -- that was forced upon Dean by the Court and Dean signed the bill in a dark closet.

And don't say Act 60 public school funding reform, either -- that, too, was forced upon Dean by the Court.

So what policies did Dean (a good Governor, by the way) voluntarily pursue that put him markedly to the left of Douglas?

Schmendrik.

"There are no moderates in the Vermont Democratic Party."

Really? Do go on.

Nice try, nitwit.

You made the above claim. You back it up.

That's what I thought.

I don't recall saying Dean was " markedly to the left of Douglas?" as you put it.

Is it your contention that Douglas would not have signed those bills into law had be been in Dean's position at the time?

Either way, there's your answer.

Always a pleasure.

"Actually, that would be you. Check the fictitious handle at the top of your posts if you've forgotten or don't believe me."

The content and construction of your posts is really improving, shmendrik. Keep up the good work.

Once again, boychick, if you've got evidence that it's fictitious feel free to cough it up.

Always a pleasure.

Hey, loudmouth toughguy, publish your name like hoffer does, not an anonymous blog handle.

You indeed stated that Dean was to the left of Douglas. Prove it. What did he do as Governor that places him to the left of Douglas?

Thought so.

It was Dean's moderation that made him a good Governor. He had no use for the left wing freaks in the Party, like Cheryl Rivers, Dick McCormack, and lyin' Liz Ready. That's a fact.

Had you been around then he would have flicked you away like the booger you are.

"Stuff a sock in it, Sully!!!
Oct 27, 2007 12:02 AM Report Abuse

Bill, with all due respect, what the fook are you thinkin' bringin' Andrew Sullivan back as a panel guest?!! He still hasn't shut up or come up for air since 3 appearances ago.

Irrespective of us pathetically predictable self-serving remarks on climate change, his lame efforts to make this about Hillary when Bush and the Gops have been the strongest enemy the environment had since Reagan.

As for his pathetic "It's easy to blame Bush, what about Hillary, last exit to Damascus horsebrit, gimme a fookin' break.

IT'S EASY TO BLAME BUSH BECAUSE IT'S HIS WATCH AND HIS FAULT. HE HAD THE CONGRESS AND THE COURTS FOR SIX YEARS. ALL HE DID WAS MAKE A BAD SITUATION WORSE. WHEN CARCINOGEN CHRISTIE TODD WHITMAN IS THE TEAM TREE HUGGER, THEY'VE GOT NOTHING AS IT IS. DON'T ENCOURAGE THE SCHMUCK.

AGAIN, LOSE ANDREW. HE HAS NOTHING TO SAY AND HE SAYS IT FAR TOO OFTEN AND FAR TOO LOUDLY.

AS FOR HIS BOOK, HAVE YOU EVER SEEN A CONSERVATIVE TRY TO DANCE TO THE STAPLES SINGERS, "I'LL TAKE YOU THERE"? CLEARLY, THEY HAVE NO SOUL. SULLY'S NO EXCEPTION.

GAS HIM. THANKS TO PEOPLE LIKE HIM, THERE'S JUST NOT ENOUGH OXYGEN AND POTABLE WATER TO WASTE ON THE LIKES OF HIM.

JW COOP"

Notice how he uses the same line about "not enough oxygen and potable water to waste on . . ." over and over again, no matter whom he's attacking? This gem below is a posting attacking Congressman Eric Cantor of New York, who had the nerve, according to jwpoop, to criticize Columbia University for inviting Iranian Pres. Ahmadinejad to speak:

"JWCoop10
Montpelier, VT Reply »
|Report Abuse |#1 Oct 18, 2007

Since the next honest, intelligent remark with so much as a shred of integrity attached to it uttered by Eric Cantor will be the first, imagine how Columbia feels.

Given how little breathable air and potable water the Eric Cantors of the World have left us, there's simply not enough to waste on the Eric Cantors of the world."

How about Ahmadinejad, jwpoop? Is that charming fellow who denies the Holocaust and who thinks Israel should be nuked off the face of the Earth and who says there are no homosexuals in Iran -- is he using up any of our breathable air and potable water?

Dismissed.

Who said anything good about Ahmadinejad, sport? He's as bad as Bush.

You really are a piece of work, shmendrik. First you've got nothing better to do than tally up the number of posts I make while telling me to get off the internet, now, evidently, you've got nothing better to do than scour other forums and sites in a pathetic effort to intimidate me by cutting and pasting posts I've made to other sites while trying to track me down and expose who I am and where I live.

As if, punk.

Why don't you and bubbles spend your time to come up with something to say and I'll give you the time of day?

That's what I thought.

Like Sully, you've got nothing to say and you've been saying it far too loudly for far too long.

So, once again, Sport, I don't give a damn who you are or where you live. It doesn't matter to me if you're Clueless in Colchester or Joe Blow from Jericho or where or when you spew your gop-slop nonsense.

No matter how you slice it, the next intelligent factually-substantiated thing either one of ya say will be the first.

I was not talking about this past election, I was referring to the next one. Then again I suppose I have a rather different idea as to what cleaning out the riff-raff would be than an "intellectual elite" like yourself.

As for the South American, Pinochet comment... it is quite obvious that anyone to the right of yourself, which is I daresay 87% of the population, is a nazi according to you, not to mention all the other noncomplimentary terms you litter your posts with. Keep going though, you're impressing the heck out of me.

Now you're just typing JWCoop and cutting and pasting posts I didn't even write.

If you're so intellectually and morally bankrupt that you've got to dredge through other sites looking for posts I may or may not have written, at least stick to the ones I actually wrote, punk.

Ya think ya can handle that, nonnie boy?

Unfortunately, I'm not the only jwcoop10 out there. Sometimes I've got to post under different names, nitwit.

I stand corrected. I misread the post.

I'll give ya that one, sport. Lord knows victories have been few and far between for the likes of you and bubbles.

For the record, I did write that bit in the middle.

Show me where it says anything pro or con about Jessica's Law.

That's what I thought.

You're worse than that kooze cretin. He was a knuckle draggin' nitwit but at least he could come up with a name and his own and spew fox noise talking points. You can't even muster that up, punk.

I notice that the far-left drones like jwpoop and many that sign on as "anonymous" hate Bill O'Reilly and any other conservative-moderate that is trying to put away child molesters. To the shame of us native Vermonters, much of Montpelier has been hijacked by these abuser-coddlers, even so far as to control the House Judiciary and many of the courts in Vermont. What we need is "Take Back Vermont II"!

Will you shut up already with the child molesters. And you don't even live in Vermont. You spew as much hatred as jwpoop. You and jwpoop are two abusive peas in a pod.

Here, here!!!!!!!!!

Rant all you want, but Bill O'Reilly is only a messenger. He may cut people off, he may be "rude", but who can disagree with his message? AND, unlike MSNBC or like-minded liberal media outlets, he is willing to allow ANYONE on his show that disagrees with him! If Lippert and company have such a good reason for not even allowing debate on Jessica's law, why don't they get a little courage and appear on his show to debunk him?

What's to debunk?

Oy, bubbles, you are one dim bulb. Ya just got through tellin' us that he "may cut people off and be rude" so you've answered your own question, nitwit.

Are you claiming that Lippert and the Legislature did nothing legislatively to protect kids from child molesters?

Prove it.

That's what I thought.

Billo couldn't survive a legitimate debate or a fair fight.

The only thing dumber than billo is his audience.

To paraphrase the Judge when dismissing the bogus newscorp/billo law suit against Al Franken,

Billo is wholly without merit both factually and legally. So's his audience.

So, the legitimate media outlets don't have any conservatives, eh? Good luck makin' that case, too, bubbles.

jwcoop, the above paragraph from you just described your nasty style to a T.

jwpoop, maybe, except Sorrell was the one who ended up looking like the dim bulb when he appeared on O'Reilly's show. I'd say the only thing dumber than billo was Sorrell's foolish decision to go on his show.

"In other words, you knuckle-draggers are tired of getting your head handed to you on a regular basis as I readily and routinely point out how you consistently prove you don't know your sorry butt from your ignorant, ill-informed elbow."

Jwpoop, so you think it's okay for you to behave just as or even more badly than O'Reilly because you think you're right? That's silly. It's not ok to criticize O'Reilly's behavior but then act the same way because you're convinced that you have the "truth" on your side. That's the rationale for all violence.
