Comments:
Zuckerman has been a complete failure as Ag Chair. The guy should NOT have been given that job again.

The sead labeling law that he passed has huge holes in it. Because the law was so poorly worded, the Douglas administration and the sead companies have been able to ignore the law entirely.

Zucker needs to go.

Great to see Mitzi Johnson on Appropriations. She's great.

VT was the first state in nation to put a definition of GMOs into statute. This is a significant step and Zuckerman deserves a lot of credit for helping us get there.

If there are any holes in Zuckerman's legislation, it's because the governor put 'em there. Remember Douglas' excuse for not wanting Z's law? Because if he passed it as Z had it, Monsanto would no longer sell seeds in our state (cough, cough, BS, cough).

Zuckerman is a fair, honest, and hardworking person with a personal stake in the betterment of Agriculture (he's a farmer).

Quick correction: Darryl Pillsbury is an Independent not a Republican.

Putting Kitzmiller in charge of Commerce was a fantastic move. He ran a business and knows what small business owners have gone through. Way to go, Gaye!

Sorry Bud. Civics 101 sez that the Legislature writes the laws. Nothing got into that bill unless Zuckerman put it there.

Zuckerman means well, and I'm glad that he sells carrots for a living ... that's nice.

But he isn't an effective committee chair

Janice Peaslee (House Transportation) is a long-time Republican, who has been in the House for years, not a Democrat.

Sorry Bud. Civics 101 sez that the Legislature writes the laws.

Ah, so you're saying a gubernatorial veto threat holds no weight in legislation? As such, take a guess as to which major party added amendments to butcher the original law in order to meet said veto threats. Civics 101 indeed.

Actually, Douglas and the seed companies have been albe to ignore it because that was one of the few bills Douglas vetoed last session, and the D's didn't have the numbers to override his veto.

Now that they have the numbers, it will be interesting to see if they have the will.

Douglas didn't veto seed labeling. He signed it.

He vetoed the GMO bill.

And Zuckerman is responsible for the legislation that comes out of his committee. As Chairman, he holds the power in that room ...

If the bill was great, he'd want all the credit.

The bill blows ... he deserves some blame.

The law may blow, but it was passed during the 2003-2004 session, before Zuckerman was chair.

Zuckerman basically wrote that law. It was his baby. He touted it as the best thing since beet juice -- and it's very ineffective

i just wish he was in DC instead of the twit who ended up there.

Every Prog that's ever run for statewide office has come in third.

Zuckerman wouldn't have done any better than Abbot.

interesting no NE Kingdom representation on Naural Resources isn't that special.

Sounds like real progress for the wind power industry
